Thought this only happens on TV
Well, I actually have to compliment Acura Roadside assistance.
So, I'm driving home from upstate NY to NJ with my wife and dog. We decide to stop for gas at a rest-stop and my wife runs in to get some food. Well, as always our dog is a bit excitable and we have to wiggle out and leave her in the car. I was moving fast and left the car running. No biggie I pump gas all the time with the car running. Well as I'm pumping our dog is jumping around the front seats. I suddenly hear a click----you know, the sound power locks make when they go down. I look in and the dog is looking at me, I'm looking at the car LOCKED with the motor running. I asked the dog very nicely to unlock the car but no luck. Thank god Acura puts the number on the window. Well I call Acura and explain the problem and tell the guy to please hurry. The tow truck gets there in 20 minutes and the guy opens the car in under 1 minute.

i was afraid the guy was going to use a slim jim but they now use air pressure. It was a bit scary to watch even still but I had no options and no on star. He used a small plastic wedge to bend the door out at the top. Picture a wedge being slide between the car and the top part of the window frame. He then slide a thin pouch into the space the wedge was holding open. the pouch has a small pump, like when a doctor takes your blood pressure. He slowly pumped it up and it actually moved the door out about a 1/4 of an inch-yes bent the door. Then he slide in a long stick an flicked up the power lock button. He move the door such a small amount I don't think it was a big deal. Considering I was going to throw a rock through the window I was happy.

I had to get into my car when I locked myself out of it in my garage. I went and got a coat hanger and it was very easy to get the car unlocked. Only took like 5 minutes of jiggling the coat hanger around to pull up on the lock/unlock switch.

hey darkalley, just a tip bro, the new emmissions on the TL release vapors and pressure from the gas tank back in to the intake randomly, you know it because you her a "popping" from behind the rear left tire... what does this mean? well, if you just happen to be filling gas while the car is on, and the release starts, theres a good chance you win have an insta-check engine light and it could flood the release valvs with gas. then the ECU shuts the car down, and you dont move
i saw it the other day at the dealership. And no, its not covered under warranty eheheheh

Folks who live in snow-covered areas are more likely to fill up their cars with the engine still running. At least that was my experience while living in St. Louis for 7 years.
