Thought about battery in trunk?

What do you think? Has anyone done this? It's pretty easy to move the battery to the trunk, and that would help with handling as our cars have alot of weight ahead of the front axle line - most of the engine, tranny and battery. Never seen a post on this and let me know. Cooler for it back there too.

i would see your point if you were planning on doing a really big system ... but handeling a battery weighs 20 30 pounds tops whats the point unless your going to do something with it back there

1st, your battery will need ventilation. 2nd, if you run the power wires from the front all the way to the back, it will add resistance to the power cable. 3rd, it ain't going to make much of a difference in terms of handling. Why don't you just remove the stock air box/resonator and get headers. The stock exhaust manifold is HEAVY, you will save a few more pounds there.

Basically, your point of moving the battery to the trunk isn't going to work to your advantage. It might create more problems down the road.

It's not worth it on this car IMO. It is done to improve the balance of the car for handling. Most people probably would'nt notice a difference. I don't think moving the Battery to the rear is worth the trouble of installation, especially on our cars. It's not some serious sportscar taken to the extreme limits, except for few I'm sure.

Would it be possible to take off the back seat and place the engine there instead? That would make a huge difference in terms of weight balance Just teasing you... I don't think its worth the side effects of having the battery in the trunk. You will probably regret it down the road.

Why not just get a lighter more compact battery? There are tons on the market and a few can even be mounted upside down. Im considering doing this and possibly moving it somewhere else in the engine bay like in the fender or something to give me more room in the engine bay.
