KA in California by the CHP.
K band for the speed detecting signs that the CHP puts up but doesn't take photos (photo speed tickets not legal in Cali I think)
X band has been nothing but false alarms.

LOL...In Jax, the city and county are the same. The police frequently use X band and they tend to do it right before you reach one of those grocery stores...Tricky b@st@rds...

In JAX, they use Ka and I encounter Laser a couple of times, with a good radar detector all this problems get solved I have a very good Whistler and the false alarms are almost none existent.

Almost all police departments stopped using X band radars along time ago. Not that there are some poor departments that can't afford to move into the 21st century and still use them. I don't know of any in california that are still using X band anymore. Most in Cali are using Ka or LIDAR (the correct name for laser). A few still use K but even that is becoming rare.
Oh yeah, for those in southern California, i saw a CHP motorcycle cop and he had a hand held LIDAR and the Ka radar on his motorcycle. So those in LA area becareful, LIDER is target selective and very hard to fight in court.

I have my detector on reduced X-Band sensitivity in City mode. I did encounter a K-Band CHP vehicle. It was an older model cop car. All the new Crown Vics seems to have Ka Radar. Haven't seen an Lidar in CA so far but that doesn't mean they aren't around.
