Me no like. Just today I saw a Corvette with cheap Pep Boys mudguards - did he plan to go off road?

Off-topic: how about people with Range Rovers with bursh guards over the head and tail lights? Are they expecting to encounter a rhino on the way to Starbucks? :p

I'm not too big on them either, but I'll probably get them... I notice a lot of build up right behind the tires on the lower body. My CL didn't have this and it had mud flaps. I'm also thinking of having them painted body color... maybe that would make them look a little better (more like the RL)......

I have them, and personally like them. They serve a purpose.

I've got them and they do prevent road grime build-up behind the tires. I never would have asked for them, but they were on the car and I don't think they look bad. In fact, I'm thinking of chroming them and adding curb feelers...whadda ya think?

One tip if you do get them.....

Figure out where the guard meets the side of the car and either sand it down really smooth or put some felt between it and the body panel. I had my mudguards on for a few months and it wore a mark into the paint.

If you have any thoughts about getting the underbody kit, DO NOT GET THE MUDGUARDS. One is they won't fit if you have the kit, two is the mark it leaves is an eyesore.

They came as part of the dealer accessory package (mud flaps, wheel locks, trunk tray, etc..) that is standard on every car they sell (for a price, of course).

I actually like them and probably would have gotten them even if it was an extra. I think it adds just a hair to the overall looks, and yeah, they serve a purpose as well!

Personally, I hate the look of the mudguards. I took them off right before I got my car lowered. I don't have a problem with wiping the lower body panels to remove grime a couple times a week. I think it looks weird to have a lowered car with mudguards, but again, thats just my opinion.

Ahh... I was planning on getting the body kit in a few months. Thanx for the tip.
If they have already made-their-mark is it cleanable/repairable?

My car came with the mudflags. I took them off about 6months later and they already made marks in the paint. the back i was able to wax out the scratches. The drivers side front is the worst but i can deal with it.
Im going to put them back on for the winter though. Salt can do some serious damage to your rocker panels.

Ditto. With the salty slush we get around here in the winter, I think they definitely help.

Then take them off now so the mark won't be that bad.

IMO, I hate the mudflaps. I rather have the bodykit, which I have.

I have them and like them. As someone else mentioned, they serve a purpose and keep alot of road crap off the side of the car.

I also clean behind them every time I was the car, especially right along the edges. They are flexible, so I just push them forward and get the wash mit behind them. It's amazing how much crud gets behind the flaps and on the paint.

I agree...the body kit is better than the mudflaps.

Anybody want to give me 800 bucks so I can make the switch?

They are great if you have a black car.
Not so great any other color.

They should have colored them to match the rest of the car.

The mudflaps look good on a silver TLS too. I have them and i apply some armor all on them to make them shiny and black. Helps the look i think. They work great. Not cheesy at all.

I've got 'em on an ABP and I think they look fine. And they really are functional. No paint chips or crap on the rear quarter panels or lower doors/sills. And it keeps general splashing down as well. I've had them on my last four cars and I think they're well worth the $$$ for what they protect. Just my $.02

Better yet, find out where the mudguards meet the side of the car and put some 3m scotchcal film or some xpel film on that part of the area...

I just bought some mudflaps because of the "protection" factor BUT I do want to get a bodykit later down the money road. These "marks" that the flaps leave......are they still visible when the body kit is put on?

Really wish the TL flaps were color matched like the RL flaps....would have been a nice extra perk.

Color Coded????

Has anyone found a source for color matched mud flaps? I've got a Noble Green TL-S and don't like the idea of black rubber mud flaps.....

If ya like the look of splattered crap all down the side of your cart, don't get the mudflaps. Personally I like the mudflap look much better than the splattered crap look.

Don't see 'em on Lexus... Don't see 'em on Merced, or BMW.... and you'll never see them on my Acura! Mudflaps are the kind of thing that old farts add to their Park Avenue. I personally can't believe that Acura is practically forcing this eye sore on the buying public... The dealer told me that they "HAD" to install the mudflaps because of potential paint chips prior to purchase, if it was ever driven.... I drove it the first week with flaps because I thought it was going to be a pain to get them off... found out that simply raising the tire off the groung and using a stubby screwdriver did the trick without removing the whole wheel.

Funny thing is... Acura must not think too much of the mudflaps either because they dont have a single picture of the TL-S on their website with mudflaps! Hmmmm wonder why?

I like them, too.. they keep all the small rocks off the paint... and like you, I "dress" up the mud flaps... but I use the left-over Meguiar's Tire Dressing on them... they shines as good as a fresh dressed tire...

As for color-coded mud flaps... I think RL has color coded ones... wonder if they will fit....

Agreed, they don't look the greatest, but I've got them on all 3 cars and only the QX has them color matched. All the mfgs listed above offer them as options, just like Acura, and you'll likely see them in wintry climates. For you lucky SoCal guys who don't get snow, I guess they might help keep the tar off the side of the car.

Salt/grime on No. OH roads between Oct and April is just brutal - and when it's not snowing, ODOT's tearing up the highways, covering them with dirt and gravel......I'll take the not so pretty look in exchange for the protection they offer.

if you have comptech springs, taking off the mudflaps makes the car look much more agressive from the rear (especially on the highway to other cars). The raked look makes it seem like your rear tires are bigger.

Thumbs down Mud Flaps are thing of the past...

Mud flaps are the ugliest thing you can add to your car... If you are old and like to maintain the value of the car by protecting it with ugly black flaps, by all means go ahead.... but image concious modern go-speed racer type of people will never have mud flaps...after all it's all about the image

I have a Diamond White w/mudguards. Since I don't think a DWP TL with black mudguards looks good, I took them to a shop to have them painted.

They guy at the shop said that the surface of the mudguards was excellant for painting, and that the paint they use will not crack (could be additives they use). He got the paint color code off the drivers side door frame. A week later, they looked great - matched much better than the stock rear bumper cover! (BTW, he alslo suggested not to paint that flat/textured edge - he said paint wouldn't stick to the texturing).

That was quite a few months ago, and I've had no problems with chipping, etc. I highly recommend it for a DWP.
