asiankidd, the used D2R or D2S bulbs go for around $100 pair these days. I sold 2002 Benz C320's osram bulbs for $100 shipped.

Well, from seeing with my eyes, I think best "color output" projector lenses are A6, old and new 5-series BMW, old 7-series, new Benz CL55 CL600, BMW X5, and S2000. The older 3-series with projectors' color are okay but not great, newer 3-series are very very yellow with tint of white.

compare to 3-series projector, these bulbs are cheap. I've seen pair of 3-series projector for around $500 and up without ballast and bulbs. With ballast and bulbs it goes for higher I think. Audi's projector are cheaper, but have less output than 3-series lights.

asian kidd, let me tell you...i was riding by a 500SL w/HID the other night and the HID looked weak as hell...its spread pattern is not even as wide as mine and plus the out put looks straight up halogen compared to mine...saw my friends dad's sc430 tonight at the light...weak as hell, im telling you...the only way it could be phatter than reflector 6000K is if the person has projector 6000K:wow:...now that I wanna see...Shyne

Asiankidd, as for output, test shows regular D2 bulbs are brighter than 6000k bulbs. And as for color of the regular D2 bulbs are depend on the projector, and you see good purple blue color that X5 or S2000 emits, but on the ground its yellow/white which is closer to sun light. For 6000k its more like white/blue/purple when you look at the housing, but on the ground its white with tint of mixed blue and purple. Also people tend to think 6000k has better output since they can see further down the road (street signs) higher color temp gives better reflection on street signs and driver thinks 6000k is better. If you want better ground output-stick with regular D2 bulbs, and if you better surrounding output go with 6000k Ultinons. I can't say anything about K2's 6000k bulbs since I have not tested them. I compared Osram's regular to Philips regular to Ultinon on same housing. As for color Ultinon is far blue, Osram has whiter tint blue look and Philips are just yellow with slight tint of white. As of current test, 2001+ BMW 5 series and 2002+ Q45 has best OEM HID projector output on the market.
