Thinking of getting an A6

For the wife. She loves the TL-S, but the lease deal offered on the Audi A6 is just too good to pass up. Although it is only the 2.8, it is still fast enough for her. And at $399 a month with just $1K down, I can't complain.

What lease deals are you guys getting on the TL-S? It seems to me that they are quite a bit more for a car that is less expensive.

As a fellow Lexus GS owner and a Lexus fan - get her the new revamped 2002 ES300 that is coming out this fall. Still no news on it, but it's supposed to be incredible. I'm eager to see what it looks like. Or just get her the RX300 Silversport Edition. Both are great cars with great service!

I just saw a A6 with a 4.2 Quattro badging. Do A6's come with 4.2 engines? I thought the 4.2 was reserved for the A8/S8...

I think the S6 has a V8 4.2 engine.

ES300 is famous for its poor steering feel. I found this to be quite dangerous if driving fast because the ES300 steering could be turned with a pinky.

Yikes, that's quite a deal if its a 36 mos lease. I bet the residual must be astronomical. I pay $488+TAX x 36 mos. w/$1500 down @.0034 for a fully loaded TLS w/Navi but residual is like $20900 (high)... with those numbers I would've definitely seriously thought about the A6.

True, Lexus is known for is seriously overboosted steering...but they have changed that in the new LS430 and '01 RX300, it offers a fair amount of road feel.

Yes, the S6 has a 300hp V8, the S8 has a 360hp V8.

I would love for her to drive an RX300, but what kind of lease deals are there? I have to say, the TL-S is the perfect blend of sport and luxury, but not if I have to pay $50 or more a month to have it over the Audi.

The 4.2L engine in the A6 has 300hp @ 6200rpm and 295 lbs/ft of torque @ 3000 rpm, while the 4.2L engine in the A8 has been slightly more tuned for 310hp @6200 rpm and 302 lbs/ft of torque @ 3000rpm.

The 4.2L engine in the S8 is tuned for 360hp @ 7000 rpm and 317Lbs/ft of torque @ 3400 rpm.

$399 is a pretty good deal if 10,000 miles per year fits her needs. Add another $40/month for 12K per year.

My only gripe with the A6 is that it's slow with the base V6 - maybe you should check out the A6 2.7TT lease at $499/month

TL-S dealer offered $495/mo, 48 months, 18,000 mi per year with 1,500 down. We purchased instead.

The A6 does come w/ the 4.2 (there is the A6 2.8, 2.7 T, and 4.2). Visually on the 4.2, you will notice it has a slightly different front grille and wider fender flairs as well as different wheels.

The Acura lease deals are nondeals. I paid cash after being offered a 3yr lease at $480/month. There is not much of a market for Audis in my area (Louisiana), but I considered a used A6 2.7t which had already depreciated to 28k.
