Leather/vinyl interior question
Leather/vinyl interior question
Does anyone know what parts of the TL-S interior are actually leather (I know at least the perforated seating surfaces are) and what parts are vinyl? From what I read in other posts regarding leather cleaning I should prep/clean the leather/vinyl ASAP so prevent premature cracking/fading/etc., and I want to be sure I'm using the correct cleaning product for the right surface.
Having said all of this, it appears that many users in this forum use Lexol; anyone know what friendly neighborhood store carries this brand so that I can buy some?
Thanks!
Tony

) are leather. The rest is vinyl. You can actually tell which parts are leather by flicking your finger onto the surface. The leather parts make a deeper "thud" sound, while the vinyl parts make a lighter "thwack" sound. Also, you can use your fingernail to lightly score the surface. The mark will disappear almost instantly from the vinyl parts, while the leather parts will take a little while longer.
I bought my Lexol leather products from the O'Reilly's Auto Parts store here in Kansas City. I'm still looking for a store that carries Lexol Vinylex, though!

I'm still puzzled by several pieces on the seats... are the headrest backs (TLS) leather? How about the tops of the seat backs?
I'm quite amazed at how well the vinyl matches the leather!
I purchased my Lexol at the Acura dealer in my area. I didn't realize it was available at Pep Boys. Paid $9.95 for cleaner and conditioner for a 500ml spray bottle. They also carried the Vinylex but I did not buy any.
If that price is not bad check with Acura and MB dealers in the area. Rover, Audi and Jag dealers in my area had their own stuff.
If it is a long drive to the dealer, make sure you call ahead and have them hold a bottle for you. They ran out at both places I went within the hour between my call and actually showing up. I bought the display at the second stop.
