Question Is there a Tranny Defect with the 99TL?

Ive been reading around the forum and it seems like people are going through trannys like its nothing. I currently have a 99 TL Silver with only 45,000 miles on it. I just got it not long ago and it was previously owned by probably some older people who garage kept it and hardly drove the car that much. Even though my car has been kept in excelent shape, almost like new, will I expierience the same Tranny Problem like everyone else. DO I HAVE TO BE PREPARED FOR MY TRANNY TO GO AT LIKE 60,000 Miles? IS THIS A DEFFECT IN THE TL's TRANNY? I'm worried? Someone have an answer to this?

There are less problems with the 4spd 99 trannies than the 5spd 00-03's. I've read of some having problems in their 99's, but not as wide spread as the 00-03's.

don't sweat it.. the 99's are pretty much an exception, I've only "heard" of 1-2 TL's having defects from this forum.. do a search.. jsut relax and enjoy your car I'm having no problems with my 99' with 103K on it

Keep in mind, you're on the internet and people generally come here to bitch/whine and beg for answers more often than praise their vehicle.

In other words, its an overblown problem that has been taken care of by Acura.

My 99 TL lost it's tranny @ 88k. Thank God for the 99' drivetrain being extended to 100k. With mine, there was drivetrain noise above 45 mph. None of that going 75-80 with a sudden downshift into 2nd gear madness with has stalked the 5spd box.
Cheers,
Vica
