TCS light ON, Trouble to Start??

So this is a very random problem I've been having for a couple of months now, occasianlly at random times when I turn the car on it shakes RPM slowly drop to around 300-400 and just sits there. As soon as I hit the gas the engines hesitates and sputters. After I rev it to the redline 2 or 3 times the car drops back to normal RPM's and I can drive it. Sometimes it decides to die on me the rpm's decide to drop at 0 when starting. The weird thing is when it sputters and is almost ready to die the TCS remians on FOR AS LONG AS IT IS BEING DRIVEN. As soon as I shut the car off and re start it the TCS light is gone. This is a really occaisnal problem, but its becoming a daily event now, it happens more often when something electrical is left open with the engine shut off such as radio, lights ect.. It also does it when nothing was left on. Sometimes it'll turn on just fine and sometimes it gives me this problem. The engine does not start slowly, nor do any lights dim so i'm pretty shure its not the battery.

Can anyone help me out?? its a 2000 TL 200 000km's!!

sounds like possible dirty IAC- idle control
stop revving it in park/nuetral- bad for the engine and not fixing the problem

I would use Deep Creep (seafoam aerosol version) sprayed into the throat of the TB- that will get some critical parts clean and moving
You could also have clogged egr ports

Proceed to parts store where they will puill the codes for you for free
report back here with those numbers
Could be anything from bad coil to time to clean the intake manifold!

I never had a CEL, just a TCS. What's weird is that i sometimes find that it happens when something electrical is left on for a period of time. So could it be the alt, battery or anything to do with the chargind system? Also the engine never revs higher it always drops to 300-400 and sometimes to 0 where it dies.

I also forgot to mention the hesitation does not happen while the car is being driven. If stopped at a stop sign it will not die ONLY ON START UP!. Cleaning the TB wouldn't help the its TPS that need changing, and there is no sensor so you have to replace the whole thing with a new TB.

Just because the CEL isnt on doesnt mean there isnt a code. If the TCS light comes on there may be a code to be pulled. Cleaning the TB NEVER hurts, especially if its never been done.

Does anyone have experience with tuning the TPS after installation? I put a new one on my 99 TL that was throwing two TPS related codes... When I plug in the new TPS, the car won't shift out of park...When I used the shift lock override I took the car for a drive and it wouldn't shift out of first. If the TPS isn't set properly, do you know if the tranny will lock and not shift? Thanks

You really arent supposed to replace it. Honda made it a non replaceable part.

assuming you recently changed the plugs and dropped 1 of the coils???? even a hard set down on bench can do it
thats the usual case of those multi misfire codes

Just buy 1 coil $45 and try on each of the cylinders giving a code- reset the ecu each time and see if it runs better- when it does- stop trying the coils and leave it on that one~
