Tb Diy

Is there a throttle body cleaning DIY on this board? I looked but couldn't find an official one.

Thanks

OK I guess I'm very confused here. I was reading in other posts about cleaning what I thought was the throttle body. Taking the intake hose off and shooting TB cleaner in there to get rid of carbon deposits. Isn't that what you do? I wanted to make sure I didn't fuck something up before I did it.

You know I probably don't, but I thought since it had 60K it might benefit it. Here is the post I was referring to.

I guess I don't really need to know much more than what is said in that thread.

just use that link. There isnt much to it. Pull off the rubber intake tube and look to see if you have lots of carbon buildup. If so spray it in there, pull the TB Butterfly open and wipe the surfaces clean (a old tooth brush works great for that). Then ithh motor running spray more to helpo clean further.

this all stems from the shitty gas mileage i presume i'm getting. i'll have an official calculation sometime next week. right now i'm on half a tank with a little over 100 miles! that does not seem right at all. this is all in town driving and i haven't smashed the throttle once. tires are inflated properly and alignment seems ok. i'm going to run some of the gumout injector cleaner next fill up. oh and yes i've been using premium. no CELs or anything. air filter and cabin filters were recently replaced.

can an 02 sensor go bad and not throw a CEL?

once i get the official mileage i'll post a thread.

a dirty TB wouldnt cause that bad mileage. Yes a bad O2 can happen ind if it does it will throw a code.

Would an o2 sensor that was throwing codes be causing bad mpg?

Yes it would because it would cause the car to run too rich.

I know this is an Acura forum, but I was having problems with my Infiniti. I had it hooked up to a scanner and it is showing the code for the 02 sensors, bank 1 and bank 2. The car has about 112,000 miles on it. The only weird thing is that the check engine light is not on, but it is still throwing that code. My mechanic told me to not worry about it since it is not showing the check engine light. I really felt like I was getting bad mpg, but he said it should not affect mpg at all. Would it be wise to replace the sensors or just wait for the light?
