Is my tranny dead?

Ok I have a 2000 Acura TL and I was going along doing about 40ish and all the sudden it felt like my car was breaking then I reliezed it was the tranny down sifting. Is my tranny going to die out on me I have about 89K miles on it if that helps. This has also never happened before because normally i dont drive at 40 on the roads im on but it felt really wierd and it freaked me out because I thought iwas my breaks. So is it time for a new tranny?

It might be normal downshifting.

But, since you're still covered by the extended warranty, you might want to have it checked out by your local Acura dealer.

My brand new one - from the factory died with 9100 miles. Good luck, but don't be too sure about that 20k thing...

Another thing I noticed is that it seems to shift smoother in the higher gears is that also normal?

alright well my car did something really wierd today again. You know when your giving it gas and you let off the gas and you can feel the engine like catch. Well today I left off the gas and it felt like the engine was trying to catch like 6 to 7 times but then I reliezed I think it was the transmintion trying to downshift and it was like it was missing whatever gear it was trying to get into to. So before i was thinkng my tranny was ok but now its pretty much about to die right?

Very hard to tell - given your description of what happened. If you're worried about it get it checked out.

That's a good idea.

Make sure that there's some documentation that they checked out the transmission. That could be helpful if it fails after you pass 100,000 miles.
