TAN to BLACK interior

I have always loved black interior. I have a pearl white tl with tan interior and i think black would look way better to my eyes. Needless to say this is going to be a pretty hefty mod/conversion.

What do you guys think will be the hardest part about doing this type of mod? besides sourcing parts and changing out the actual front dash.

Does anyone think there are any differences in wiring or bolt patterns between the 99-01 and 02-03 model tls??

I started this thread just incase i missed a few things that would render this mod not worth it.

The dash wiring is different. You will have to take your 2 dash harnesses out and swap them for the 02+. Other than that every thing should just bolt up

The mod itself will render the mod not worth it.

It sounds easier to just buy a new car.

touching on this subject, when I was at the dealer to pick up a part the other week I asked them how much the carpet/floor was for my 3gen. There's 2 separate pieces, 1 for the front, other for the back ---------- price EACH over $200 approx!!!

I doubt the 2nd gen's price will be much different so hopefully you can find carpet from a salvaged car....

hahaha you old timers arent up to date on the new slang words.... .... just kidding!

but yeah it means it would look good lol. anyways you should just try and find someone who will trade rides with you... but the benefit of knowing where your cars been n its history may be too much comfort to let go just for a different color interior... so by all means do it up... but maybe you should add a personal touch to it just so it stands out from the stock black interiors... maybe diff seats?? like cl-s front seats?

Finding all of the trim on the interior that's black will be a HUGE pain. I wanted to do this switch as well. One because my tan/suede interior looks kinda bad, and two because I love the Ebony interior!!!

another idea is maybe you should just switch out the seats and the leather inserts on the door for black ones... and leave the rest tan.... i cant picture if this would look good or hideous just throwin out a suggestion... but someone should def try n photoshop something like that

I agree, the mod itself won't be worth it.. UNLESS you get it for really cheap!
You're basically talking about changing 1/3 of the car. But lets say that you do end up doing it. What are you going to do with all your tan interior pieces? Like someone said, might as well buy a car with the black.
And if you plan to sell the car with the mods done, i don't think it will go up in value.
goodluck with your decission.

what a turn out! thanks for all the replies.

I actually saw some dude selling a complete black on black tl on ebay, but at the time i had no money.

i just wish i had black interior, i feel so much comfortable inside of it. it would be PERFECT if i can find someone with black interior who would want to swap interiors with me. that way we both are happy and no money is spent!!!

any one wanna trade????????????

Yea cause buying a new car is cheaper than replacing a few parts on the inside of the car If you do some good searching you could probably do it for about 1k ( i just sourced out enough parts to do it or about that including the seats)
