Synthetic Oil
#3
I just changed over to AMSOIL synthetic 5w-30 (15-25,000 miles between oil changes) and it runs nicely.
it is noticeably smoother and just a tiny bit quieter.
the car likes it.
AMSOIL 5w-30 4quarts.
AMSOIL Superduty SDF20 filter.
just remember to get an engine flush done before the switch.
since synthetics are high in detergency and might break loose some trash in your engine and plug up holes, you'll want to clean house before.
i'd also reccomend Mobil 1 tri-synthetic and the mobil 1 filter.

there is a lot of difference between regular oil and synthetic.
regular oil breaks down faster than synthetic and burns off rather quickly, leaving behind residue that sticks to the inside of the engine.
it's also made of particles of unequal size and therefore unequal protection. the smaller particles will burn off more quickly and leave the heavier particles behind to do the jobs they were not meant to do. that puts more stress on the parts themselves and you achieve more wear.
synthetic oil has particles of equal size and behavior. they are extremely resistant to burn off and will only lose an insignificant % of volume in their use. they also help your car to run cooler and coats the metals with a thicker protective layer which is good for everyone.
i'll be happy to asnwer any questions.
