Question Synth Oil

Hi guys,

I am thinking of switching to Mobil 1 (Synthetic Oil) on my '99 TL with 50K.

Any recommendations or comments?

Thanks in advance.

do a search, but it should be fine. you may want to consider getting an oil flush ahead of time. Also, check for leaks around the seals after making the switch

My favorite topic..
Go for it...Mobil1 is one of my favorites..especialy with the new super-synth they just released.
Your new oil will be only as good/effective as your filtration will deliver. So spend a few extra bucks on a good filter such as the K&N or a Mobil filter (Mobil -only available in the USA...
) I dont like Fram....
I have used Mobil for many years.. but for my TL, I decided to step it up a notch and tried Royal Purple 5W30. It seems pretty good.. low oil consumption and good gaz mileage.

Will the detergent in the full syn oil too harsh for rubber seals? I don't want any oil leaks after couple years.

If your engine leaks after switching to synthetics it only because it removed the sludge that was plugging the existing openings/deformities in your seals. The detergents and such will not harm your seals.

i would reccomend red line synthetic oil.

it's better than mobil 1 and costs just a little bit more.

i use an oversized oil filter that is exactly the same as a mobil 1 and costs $1.99.

it's made by the same company that produces the mobil 1, but uses different packaging.
