Syn Oil - 1st time
I have 4K miles on my 2003 TL-S and want to switch to syn oil. But I have a friend who says I should wait until 15K to make sure the engine/rings/seals, etc. get seated properly before the switch.
What do you think about this? Is it advantageous to wait for complete breakin?

I hate spreading rumors, but I was told 10k. Naturally I waited until 15k so I could do the 7.5k oil change intervals without having to worry about weird integers. If I had to do it all over again, I'd switch over at 7.5k (which is your next change, if you got an oil change @ 3.75k)
P.S.
Something to keep in mind...Mercedes and other high perf cars come with Mobil-1 Synthetic straight from the factory.

and for the cars that come with it, alot of times the manufacturer will add a additive to help with the break in

You can make the switch anytime now..
Stick with Mobil 1 or Royal Purple, if you have more cash to spare try Redline or Amsoil.
Oh and stay way fromFram filters.

I'm unfamiliar with Royal Purple, where is this available. Which of these syn oil manufacturers put out a 5-20 or does a 5-30 or 10-30 make a difference?
I plan on using the Kragen oil filter
No just kidding, I'll be using either K&N or Mobil filters
Thanks for your help!
