Trade in, your thoughts?

I have a 2002 tl with about 42k on it, i have all the comptech upgrades and the car hasnt been beat, no chips.... garaged and had the oil changed by acura every 3000 on the dot. we went to look at the new tl 6pd and they offered us about 18k for my car, granted that we bought the new tl, and they were looking to get in the low 30's for that one, it had everything except the 3000 rims, what do you think, good deal or bad deal

I agree; you won't get any good $$$ out of the dealer for mods. If anything, some joe smoe would probably turned off by the fact that the used car he's buying was modded by the previous owner - that's why the dealer is usually excited by mods.

I assume a 2002 TLP correct? If so that still seems kinda low. I would ask for at least 20K on the trade.

Oh and I agree that parting it out is a good idea, although labor costs might offset the gains of selling the parts.

I too was thinking of trading in my 02 TL-S Navi & 52K. The Acura dealer only offered 18K so I didn't take it. I tried to sell it to Carmax & they offered &17,400 cash. That too was low so i'm keeping it until it dies.

I tend to agree with the dealer, and I think $18K is a fair trade in. With the new 2004 model out, the Type S isn't going to be as much in demand. I would trade it in and get the 6spd. Do they have any used Type S's on the lot? What is the list price for them and how many miles. I'll bet its in the low $20k, but they are probably Certified which means they have a better warranty than a new TL.
