Cool, thanks guys. I was wondering about that. Now, other than the flushing, is there anything else I have to flush out or shoud I be all set?

I'll try to remove that nut right now.. be back in a few.

Thanks! This is awesome... I'll go ahead and do this tomorrow after my route in the morning. The transmission removal procedure's actually similar, the only difference I see is the ATF warmer. Onward with the installation!

For step #24, am I able to use one of the two jacks I have to support the engine instead of the hoist or am I better off to just go get one whenever the rental place opens?

By the way, what happened to steps 25 through 32? I think you saved the same scanned page twice in a row

From years of working on cars I always add, "If all goes as planned" to my schedule pronouncements.

In any case, best of luck!

It would be but considering that i've been tired and lazy and you have better tools than I do, I'm sure you understand the prolongation of time. lol I can't find not one engine hoist available at the moment throughout my state so that's highly unfortunate. So I have to use all three jacks to support both the engine and removing tranny. It sucks!

Just be super careful about getting under that hardware when it's on jacks. Don't risk an injury!

there is no need to get under it to remove it once you have every thing undone under it, go to the top side and undo the top bolts. That way you arent any where near the underside . Just the jacks

The installation actually went okay.. replaced all of my seals/gaskets and ran across a broken transmission mount (which sucks). It was only $32 to get another so it's not that bad. I have a big problem now though... went for a test drive, everything was okay for the past 5 hours.. and then all of a sudden, now when it comes to parking the car, the car's stuck in drive! It'll go all the way from D4 to D1, but nothing else. No N, R, OR P. Even when I disconnected the shift cable, I still can't get anywhere past D4 even though I should be able to move freely from P to D1 without a problem. Any reasons as to why this is so? Everything was assembled back correctly to begin with.

Well if you disconected it at the trans and the shifter still wont go past D4?, Id say its at the shifter then. If its not hooked up to the tranny then it cant be the tranny, it would have to be the shifter. Are you sure you plugged every thing in electrical? you may also want to take apart teh center console and look to see if something is in there holding it up. Other wise look for something to be jaming th ecable up.

Hey guys! It's been a shile but I must say that the transmission is DONE! I wasn't able to post anything since I had to make the long trip, but everything's working flawlessly and the only thing that was keeping the shifter from moving around was some black bracket.. it was weird. But yes, I'll finally get to be at future meets!!!

**nice**

Glad to hear things are going well in your area Joe. If you havent heard My Tranny went on me on the way back from Ross Dock. Well I have had the tranny replaced by Clair Acura and it is running CHERRY!!!! Seeing that I have a buddy/mechanic friend/savior that works there, I only ended up paying the labor costs ($531).. ....the tranny was "goodwilled"!!!!

Wish you could be here for the Hopkington Meet....Hopefull some of the NY/NJ A- Riders will attend...

I have to say, anyone who has done a 6-speed conversion to their car is flat out awesome... I'm so damn jealous I don't know enough about cars to do mods that are that extensive... how much did all that cost? Also, what do you think about turbocharging that car now like what's his face, or is there not enough room? you would have THE sexiest and most amazing sleeper car in the WORLD (especially if you figured out how to make it all-wheel drive... then you'd smoke any car on the road )

haha, I just swapped a faulty 4-speed with a newer one with lower mileage. lol fsttyms1 was the one who did the six-speed swap.

By the way, took on a 5MT 328ci the other night, the thing's quick but the TL pulled and won after hitting 2nd... tranny's still going strong so far.

In the end, any guess as to how many hours of work it took?

How much did everything cost?

How many miles were on the used transmission that you installed?

The job? between 6-10 hours most. I just took longer because of laziness.
