supercharger or sound setup... or the 3.5L upgrade???
I currently have one 12" sub and two amps, one of which is hooked up to the factory speakers... a very mild setup...
if you had about $3500, would you save up for a supercharger or get a nice sound setup (new subs, new amps, new headunit, flip screen, etc)? You guys think the supercharger is worth the money for our cars (02 TL-S)? considering the car isn't a sports car to begin with (instead its a heavy front wheel drive and an automatic on top of that) and the supercharger only gives about 60hp? is that rite? or what about the 3.5L upgrade? Let me know what you guys think... Thanks.

to my knowledge, the s/c is $3900-$4000 plus labor and the 3.5L upgrade is $2500 for parts, plus labor. hmmm... for a nice system... i guess anywhere from $2500-$3500 (just a guess... i have no clue what a custom head unit installation will cost).

Dean over at ACL.com is considering selling a kit for the 3.5L upgrade, along with offering an install for it in Florida.
Personally, I really like the 3.5L upgrade idea, but I'm wary about finding someone good to install it.
However, it should be easier to find someone to install the S/C and dealers may even let you keep your factory warranty!
Also remember that the S/C only gives 42-48 whp for automatics. The S/C only gives ~60hp on the CL-S 6-speed. Supposedly Comptech will be releasing an ECU upgrade for the automatic TL/CLs which will provide gains similar to the 6-speeds CL-S's.
Personally, I'm more concerned with power and speed than I am with audio systems ... but thats just me

I think the "S" stands for speed.
i'd love to have a supercharged TLS... its just that 4Gs into a car should provide more than it does... ?60? extra horses are sweet nonetheless. I'm not sure what I'd want... so I just wanted to hear what others felt.

I just surfed to comptech's website and Mike B over there (who works for Comptech) said the gains of the S/C'ed automatic TL/CL is only about 35hp at the wheels ... Thats pretty crappy for a supercharger. 42-48 is more reasonable, but I guess they need to do some more tweaking with the ECU .. (I also read that any additional upgrades like an ECU upgrade would not be provided free of charge to existing S/C customers!)

I don't want to pi$$ anyone off, but honestly... if I had about 4g to throw around right now... I'd sell my TL-S and use the 4g to buy a different car. Don't get me wrong... I still love my TL-S, but I guess I can officially be added to the "bad tranny list" found out last wednesday... (just under 40g miles)

I'm worried about the s/c stuff and the gains with paying that much jack...
A couple of guys are supposedly getting them this week or next and should report back what the gains are like (Zodiak, 2fasttls?)...
Who knows...
Id Dean can put this 3.5L package and install together here in Florida, there are a lot of us down here that may be very interested...
TypeR--how many miles have you got on your upgrade? Any problems? Cook your tranny yet?
