I was wondering if anyone has had their TL stolen. I was wondering because it is an acura and acuras tend to be stolen alot. If they do how do they do it I know how they do it to integras civics... but i want to try as much as possible to keep my TL from being stolen anyone know of a way they can take it?

gone in 60 seconds? i dunno, but someone posted about a week ago how their TL was stolen, and the cop said all the security crap on our cars is basically only good for preventing a teen from hotwiring and stealing it.
I guess get an aftermarket alarm system? i kno a lot of ppl on this forum have the viper alarm system.

My friend keyed my car and started it in less than 90 seconds. I'm sure he can do it in less than 60 if he tried it a few times. He told me to just add as many things as I can to discourage potential theives (alarm, backup battery, backup siren, autolock, etc...) . He's like my theft prevention consultant haha

OK...what I meant was that he had an Acura master key. Somehow he can put the key in/out and turn at the same time and then manage to unlock the door and start the engine. Pretty scary to see how easy it was for him to do that. I was like....

nothing is impossibe to steal if they want the car. if you want your best chances of the car not being stolen, buy a lexus. they are the hardest.
other than that aftermarket alarms, lojack, the club, are the best deturents for a thief

All the chip in the key is is a magnet... i have an rsx master key and it works like a charm for them and their "chipped" just a magnet all the keys have nothing special, would be nice though to know how they take a tl so i know exactly what to do.

i always thought the key has a transponder ( a resistor) that complete the circuit when inserted, i have never heard of magnets used in the key, the law of physics would of revealed the magnet long time ago. And, im pretty sure there is a specific code in the key that is compared to PCM when the car immobilizer is booted....

If they want to steal your car, they will. No matter what kind of gadgetry you put on it, once they have their eyes on it, it's pretty much taken. The pros disable the battery and load it up on a flatbed. Any anti-theft device will just delay the typical car thief and make them move on to another car. If you have easy to steal items in the car like aftermarket stereos/ monitors, etc.. they'll take those too. Fortunately for us, there is not a big market for TL's of any generation.
I worked with law enforcement for a few years and I know what was targetted and why. Expensive SUVs (Escalade, Pathfinder, Lexus GX/RX) are a big market in eastern europe and Africa where they can be sold for as much as quadruple their price.
Just about any Chrysler is (still) easy to steal because of the inferior parts they put on them, but their parts are worthless. That's why teenaged thieves steal them just for the joyride until the fuel runs out.
Honda Civics, Integras (RSX) and VW Golfs are taken primarily for their parts 'coz of the lucrative chop-chop market here and abroad. Accords and Camry's are the same, because there is too many of them to take. Now, later model Maximas are in big demand in South America. In southeast asia and south america, it's easier and cheaper for them to get a replacement fender or a door for an Integra than to get a body shop to fix it. VINs are only good in North America and useless anywhere else because law enforcement agencies abroad have no way of keeping track of them.
The only thing attractive from a TL maybe are the headlights/ballast. This is a problem in the inner cities but outside, it's next to non-existent. They have no market for any body parts since the car is only sold in NA and very few in Japan and not in high demand as the Accord. (probably a good thing).
I remember we were shown a trailer in the pier area loading up with stolen SUVs and once full were immediately loaded into ships and are immediately on their way. Intercepted trailers in Montreal (port of entry to/from the Atlantic) yielded SUVs and Luxo cars from CA, AZ and NM.

also, any car locksmith can get into any car within seconds. when i locked my keys in my car, the guy got into it in under a minute and i had 10% tint and it was getting dark. it was so easy for him. its scary to think what ppl will do to take ur car. its never safe unless its garaged and even thats not 100%

Especially with one post too. Anyways, no thief in their right mind is gonna step near my TL. I think I would kill them!!! Honestly, I havn't heard of a single TL theft, or headlight theft in Atlanta, so I'm not too worried.

if you wanna see exactly how a car is stolen and none of this bull about master keys and outta america sales and flat-beds...watch a few shows on repo-men......no matter how you hide your car double park anything they'll get it....example..., park your car crab's ass tight in the middle of 2 cars all you need is a little dish soap on the side of all 4 tires and you can pop that car out like nipples on a cold day....extend two tire hooks from BELOW the thieves back bumper(concealment)onto the front wheels raise a few inches and goodbye car....oh and 1 more quick one any1 who wants to see your wheels stolen WITHOUT a jack or blocks or lift at all.....it takes 3 guys and 2.5 minutes and goodbye 19's

Thief is my instinct on this one.

I don't see why someone would be so interested in how the theives break into the cars
A friend of mine's aunt had her TL stolen in New Orleans. I put the club on my car when I go down there.
would be nice though to know how they take a tl so i know exactly what to do.

With the immobilizer system they would have to tow the car to move it.
A cool trick with immobilizer system is that you can have a key cut, get in the car and even crank it, but it won't start. Now with the same key that didn't start the car, take your key that can start the car and touch it to the key that doesn't work while it's in the ignition....the car will start.
But you still need an orignal key there for it to work.
You can start an immobilizer car with an uncoded key.
