Starter Trouble
Starter Trouble
So I went to start my car this morning and it did not start right away. Is that bad for the car when the electric start is constantly trying to turn over? Usually the car starts right up but this morning it took a little longer.
It is not terribly bad for the starter to have to turn the car over a little extra, but I wouldn't run it into the ground either. Probably just due to it being really cold. If it continues, I would look to a fresh cold start battery with a high CCA number (cold cranking amps). That should help spin that starter a little better.

oh and remember... a battery loses 60% of whatever power it when its below freezing...
so imagine what its like when below 0?
if you are already running low on power you likely have merely 10% of juice in this weather.

yep, Soopa is correct, your battery has little cold amps due to the weather, and it is probably not being charged fully by the alternator.
you can get a special battery cover that keep the battery warmer, or a new battery, or just wait for the summer
