Starter Problem??

Alright, I'm having a little trouble starting my car. I'm positive I don't have a dead battery. This is what happens... I'll put the key in and turn the ignition and get absolutely nothing. The previous time this happened I just re attempted to start it and it went. But yesterday I couldn't get it to start for 15 minutes. I hit the steering column a couple times and I got it to kick up. This morning it wouldn't start either so I banged the steering column and got it to start up. Does anybody have any info on what this might be. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 99 Acura TL.

You have a 99 by chance? It sounds like a bad ignition switch.

If it is a bad ignition switch, would the dashboard ignition lights coming on be reason to believe the problem may be somewhere else? I'm having a similar problem.
My 96 TL usually always starts up right away, but after I've driven it around for awhile and made at least 3 restarts with the last start being while the engine is still close to normal operating temperature, I get nothing. Everything electrical in the car works fine but the car doesn't make a sound when I try to turn it over. I found that after about 30-40 minutes of cool down the car starts right up without a problem. I already had the battery checked, and replaced the starter but haven't solved the problem. Anyone else heard of such a thing?

I have a 99 TL and just started to encounter the same problem, at first I thought I just didn't turn the key far enough, but then it happened to me a second time later that day.
I'm thinking it's the imobilizer system, and the key is not being recognized properly. If you have any clues as to your issue please repost.

The electrical backing part of the ign switch is known to wear out in many types of cars.
Even worse if you carry way too many keys

Check to make sure your car has been fixed for the ignition switch recall. You can check ownerslink or call an acura dealer and give them your VIN.
