Guys,

What does it mean when SRS light turns on? How do you get rid of it? I searched, but couldnt find anything with key word "SRS".

Well there is a recall on 2 parts, so if its one of them your covered. You should bring it in to be checked out NONE of your air bags work when that light is on. There is no way of finding out what the code is unless you bring it to a shop that can read SRS codes. (auto parts stores cant) and you might as well bring it to the dealer for that.

First, call Acura customer care and give them your VIN number, they can verify if you are covered by the 10/150 on the (OPDS) srs sensor. 1 800 382-2238 between 6am and 5pm Pacific Time

OPDS sensor. They extended the warrany on this sensor for 10 years or 150,000(of course which ever comes first). Some of you may already know that this sensor if faulty may cause the SRS light to come on.

It may also be the seat belt buckle which is under a recall and if is the issue will be replaced.

If either of them are the cause of the srs light they will waive the fee.

Also 1 more quick note. Did you disconnect any thing recently? a harness or your seat? have a laptop on the passenger seat?

the passenger seat has a weight sensor in it that will trigger the side air bag if the car was hit.

Did you have the battery connected when you did this?

And i meant just that. Did you have a laptop sitting on the passenger seat. They are known to set off the srs light. I had it happen a few times

I did not know that taking the seats causes SRS light to come on. I had a BMW 325, E36, and I took seats out couple of time, the SRS light never came on.

I dont think the E36 had seat weight sensors, or side airbags. The same malfunction will happen on the E39, and other newer Bimmers if you disconnect the seats/airbag wires with the power still connected.

Oh I had the seabelt thing. The light came on and I took it to acura and they said they think water got into it. They said they would reset the light for me and they took it on a test drive and said everything seemed fine. Then he said if that didnt work the buckle has a lifetime warranty so I could bring it back anytime. I got a call a couple weeks later asking me if my light was still on and I said no so it never got replaced and the light hasnt come on since then. So maybe yours just needs to be reset.
