Squeaking after springs install?

I got some comptech springs installed in January and ever since then I've had a squeak that seems to come from the back seat. I've heard of people having this problem on their TLs before but I didn't have it until the spring installation. I know they have to remove your back seat to install springs, so I'm guessing something is rubbing due to the way the seat was put back in. Anyone know how to fix this?

it might be the seat want put back properly, although i doubt this could be it, but double check to make sure ur rear seat is secured and put in properly buy liftin the seat portion up and then pushing down on it.

you sure its the back seat... I had squeaking before putting the springs.. and it was the front ball joints. Got em replace (under warranty) while doing the spring install... Now a year later I think they are squeaking AGAIN !!

Hmmm, not sure about Comptech springs, but a few months after installing my Tein SS Coilovers the rear springs/shocks started to squeak whenever I went over bumps.. So the next time I was adjusting the ride height, I took some silicone lubricant spray and sprayed some onto the shocks. No problems since then!

basically: any aftermarket suspension set up is going to squeek over bumps, thats just the way it is

Yes .. but mine was squeeking before the springs... (ball joints) and now I think its the ball joints again.

I've spoken to a lot of my friends with other cars (audis, bmws etc) and they all agree that the ball joints are the worst, especially after you lower the car.

your stock springs came with a rubber pad that cushioned the springs so that they wouldn't make noise. try taking them off the old springs and putting them on your new ones with weatherstrip adhesive.

the rubber stoppers have somethign to do with it. Plus its just so much more strain on every susp. part

I had Ground Control coilovers and Tokico blues on my Prelude, amazing ride quality and handling, but squeeky. Even friends with more expensive Tein have squeeks. i donno what it is

I haven't had any problems with squeaking on my cars, But i would check the sway bar bushings or any of them they could be dry rotted.

BIG KOUT, are you saying that replacing your stock springs (which were part of a full suspension design plan) puts strain on the suspension? Would like to know of any possible drawbacks of lowering the car (besides squeeking).

lowering springs, or lowering in general will cause premature wear compared to stock ride hight. u will just have to replace parts sooner. no big deal

I can't imagine that stock suspension parts in a TL need replacement due to wear at any point, unless you drive the car forever. How soon are we talking as a result of lowering?

Well .. if you lower the car (springs) and don't put new shocks ... then its only fair that the stock shocks will wear out faster...

I have mine on for 1 year now on the stock shocks and its fine. and I drive 30K kms in a year... so I am putting more than avg. miles

The rubber pads you refer to are called spring isolators (looks like a donut cut at one side, and you wrap it around the coil of the spring). The sqeeks occur when the springs compress and the coils of your spring hit each other (this causes the squeek noise every time you hit a bump on the road) Yeah, I had the squeeks when I first lowered my TL with H&R Race springs - everytime I hit a bump, it would sqeek. Now, only if I hit a hard bump will I get squeeks. No biggie.

Read my post above. You should not have squeeks if you have spring isolators installed. Just make sure you get enough of them to wrap each and every coil of your spring.

Does it squeek with ANY aftermarket spring? I am planning to get the H&R OEs... will those squeek as well?

If you get the H&R OEs, you should be fine. These springs don't lower your car as much as the Sports and the Race springs do.

Does that mean that your car will be squeaky if you change to an aftermarket spring?

How loud does it squeak? Is it really bad or annoying?

It depends. Some people get squeaky noises, some don't. Your chances of getting squeaks will increase the lower you go.

Seotaji: get spring isolators, and you won't have any more squeaks.
