Thumbs up Springs, wow!!!

Well, I decided to go with H&R Sport because ive seen comptech drop and the rake rake look isn't my style...The springs themselves arent that good, cuz I saw some that came out of a TL used that were rusted...H&R, great springs...Supremely crafted in Germany, and ride like a dream...I went with the sport drop as many of you have and this is the most perfect drop...Its so level there is very little rake, and the ride is marvelous...I would say that its a must for all tL owners...You really compromise nothing but having to be more careful pulling in parking lots...The ride is not compromised as my car still has that luxury feel to it...I drove 200 miles tonight and not once did I wish I still had my factory springs back...I'm extremely happy with my car now, especially the look of the kit and springs:wow:...My car gets looks like its an exotic or something...Well, just thought I would share my happiness...I will post pix of before and after tomorrow...Stay tuned...Shyne

damn, and what's tight as hell is when I stomp the gas from a stop ill catch out in first of course, then when my car drops to 2nd it catches again:wow:...Very nice sound...Braking improved and acceleration improved...I dont know but when I adjusted my lights up now, I can see everything...there is no end to my light path, now I just get fockers flashing me constantly because of the adjusted height...Shyne

I'm happy for you.

I love H&R. I wish they would make a coilover system for our cars.

they are stage 2 springs...I would even like to have more drop but I guarantee its not worth it...Stage 3 is low low and cracking shiat is a high probability...The front still has a little bit of wheel gap as the rear does not...This is fine, it just flows better to me...Shyne

When are those pics coming Shyne? Also, how many inches did it drop in the back and front. I would love to drop my TL a few, but I don't want to give up that luxury ride feel...and if you say these springs don't alter the ride, I might give them a go.

Congrats on the new springs.

I've had my H&R Sports for about 1 1/2 months and they feel great and they are beginning to settle very nicely! No raked looked and the car handles so much nicer, with the help of the comptech sway bars of course!!

I have them, and I would strongly suggeest you get them if you have any desire at all for a more sporty ride, or to get rid of wheel gap. Personally, I think the ride quality is better with the H&R Sports.

shimbo519, most any mod shop will install them. If it's been around for a few years, I would recommend them over a chain store. Mod shop usually charge you for the job, where a chain store will charge you for the hours. It cost $100 to have mine installed, and it took barely over an hour.

Just want to clarify for those who are interested in stage 3 springs: no scraping yet. If you have a body kit with stage 3 springs, that's a different answer, as I don't know (maybe it might scrape). But if you are running stage 3 springs with no kit, you should be OK. Underneath my front bumper, no scratches.

I also heard that you need a camber kit in the rear with the H&R sports, is that true?

I was looking through autocarparts.com and there doesn't seem to be a chamber kit for the 2nd generation TLs, only for the 1st generations.

If you know it's H&R springs, and the car looks slammed (ie: no wheel well gap in the front or rear, and the front looks lower than the rear - as well it should be because front race springs drop 2.2" and rear drops 1.75"), then you know it's race springs (stage 3). If if just looks lowered, front wheel well gap is there but smaller than stock, it is good guess that it is sport springs (stage 2). If it barely looks lowered (or not lowered look at all), then it is H&R OE springs (stage 1).

Yo Shyne...congrats on the springs. All you need now are those 19" chromies and you'll be a big balla!

How much does the H&R Sport springs drop the front and rear? I really would go for these but hate to see the results of my other half bashing every curb and sidewalk to death!

thanks guys for caring, but im looking out for you all also...these springs make your car ride and corner like true sports cars should handle...its incredibly amazing how great the ride quality is...Germans know suspension, h&r's are consumer rated #1 for a reason...I like the fact how I can weave in and out of traffic with such grace and stop on the dime with no terrible nose dive...acceleration is more straight forward and is very much improved...its weird that some of you ask about the camber kit for the rear...the rear does look slanted inwards a little...ive driven like 350 miles already and I dont need an alignment hardly at all, the rear tires are wearing normally...some people describe getting a drop as making the ride harsher, I beg to differ...its not that way at all guys, it truely is not...didn't take photo's today, just woke up, went to tha garage, drueled, and rode out...god, i must have got 15 compliments today alone...good luck and don't go OE drop...sport or race...remember though, i only have about 5-6 inches clearance up front with the lower lip...Shyne

Some would argue that the OE drop is hardly noticeable, almost stock height. What do u say evolaerok, how much of a drop did u get with the OE's?

I'm still thinking of getting the OE springs for two reasons: 1. They won't wear out my shocks prematurely, and 2. They reduce the wheel gap enough to get rid of the "SUV" look, but still maintains that important clearance (railroad tracks and crappy parking lots in Olathe, Kansas are killers). I guess there's reason no. 3: no camber adjustment needed, but I guess even the Sport springs don't need camber adjustment.

Yup, I don't have camber kit either. Just did wheel alignment for the front wheels only. Mechanic I know told me it's not crucial to do rear wheel alignment. Plus, if you are rolling on stock wheels and tires, and you notice tire wear due to alignment, well then you should rotate them front to back to wear them out evenly. I don't know about the sport springs, but the race springs does have a harsher ride. You can feel every bump you hit on the road. But it's a trade off between better looks/performance vs ride comfort for stock.
