SportShift has "adapted" to my driving
I don't know about you guys, but when I first got my TL-S, the shifts in SS used to be slow and delayed. But now with more miles on my car, the car shifts much firmer and quicker when I'm in SS. The delay is gone for both the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift. Driving in SS now is actually really fun, especially when I let go of the gas, shift, and then get back on the throtle. It now somewhat brings back the joy of driving stick again.

Glad you two have hit it off. My car still is moody. It must have PMS (Primarily Moody Shifting).
Seriously, I find that the up shift depends on speed, throttle position, etc. even in SS mode. If you are trying to short-shift, it won't let you lug the engine and hurt the bearings.
SS will liely extend the tranmission life since the softer the shifts, the more wear due to surfaces sliding rather than engaging crisply.

I don't think SS adapts at all. It must all be in your mind As far as I know only the Automatic mode is adaptive, and it only changes the shift points, not the shift interval ("clutch" delay between one gear and the next). The SS shift interval is always set at 900 msec if I recall correctly.

I used to battle with the SS-haters all the time....
...because I love SS and use it 60-70% of the time. You have to actually use it often and it will grow on you and you'll learn to love it. Auto/SS vs. 5/6-sp manual, I would choose SS all over again.

The only thing I think I noticed is when my car was new (within the first 0 - 1000 miles) my car would always shift way before redline. Because of the early shift in SS I started using D1-D2... I now notice my car shifts above redline from 1 to 2 in SS, and full control in 3+. Now I always us SS, except when I need 3rd above 80. It sucks that our car will not let you downshift to 3rd in SS for a good usable 25MPH.
I bet that complaint has been posted at least 30 times.
