Post Spinning Tires

Hi
I am afraid to try it my self, but can i make the tires of my car 'peel out' when i am in my TL. For instance when you are at a stand still and you want to go fast.

Definiately with TCS off. You can also spin tires madly by letting the car roll backwards and putting it in drive and then punching the gas.

Not recommended of course, but it is possible.

It's tough though cuz we have front wheel drive so a lot of the weight is directly over the tires.

Hold down the brake pedal firmly with your left foot, and race the engine with your right. If the car starts to move squeeze the brake more.

When you get to high rev's, quickly release the brake pedal and your tires should start squealing. Easier when turning than straight on.

Be careful though. Since the front wheels power the car as well as steer it, the car could quickly pull in the wrong direction if you are not aimed right.

Have fun!!

Whatever - these people are crazy.

If ya wanna hear 'em screech, just turn TCS off and floor it. TCS is designed to prevent such silliness, though, so you'll have to turn it off first.

And why are you afraid to try? Actually, you should try it just so you know how the car will react in a panic situation, like if you have to go real fast real quick, like if a car was about to hit you from behind.

Furthermore, you should practice slamming the brakes on for the same reason at least once, so you know how the ABS feels for when you may have to use it in an emergency situation.

That doesn't work. At least not for me, I've tried it a few times. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but the RPM's don't go very high and the car doesn't launch or peel out at all.

If you want a spin, turn TCS off, cut the wheen to the left or right and stomp the gas. You'll not only peel out, but the tires smoke. I've done that quite a few times.

Yeah, with the rough roads around here it's practically impossible. Too much traction.

A good smoothe concrete parking lot would help. Let's try Stop & Shop or the Train Station.

Hi there Kelly and welcome aboard. It is possible with the TCS off but not recommended. Once I put my 225/45/17 bridgestones on, it just bites and goes!

Alrighty let me restate myself. Is it possible from a stop just with it in drive and you floor. I don't want to want to stand on the brake and redline. I don't want to rev the engine in nuatral and slam drive. I just want to know it the car has enough guts so spin them off the line and not by means of torturing the transission.

Whew, okay, here's the best way to peel out:

TCS off of course, find a turn onto a road that goes right, and uphill at the same time, now as you stop to check traffic before you turn right come to a complete stop, and have your tires turned to the right somewhat. (the more you angle them, the bigger burnout it will be)

I wouldn't recommend stomping on the gas and brake at the same time, that puts stress on the torque converter. But just stomping on the gas isn't terrible. Now just let her rip.

The next thing to have to decide is that when you get to 6000 rpm in 1st, do you let off the gas some to stay there or do you shift into 2nd?

In the most optimal spinout conditions I spun all through 1st, all through 2nd, and halfway through 3rd. Hahahahhaahahah it was a good 200 feet.

A simpler way is, is to water down your street or wherever, drive over it, and punch the gas like there's no tomorrow..

its possible to peel out just by punching it cause our stock TL tires aren't that great anyway.

I do it whenever I leave work late. I love doing it in the parking garage. Most of my tires are left withing the first 50 feet of my parking space. That would be the reason my tires are bald at 13k miles.

Hmm, mine will peel out just from a stoplight, no crazy crap required.

Maybe Acura messed up and gave me an engine that had been tweaked out for more power...

I got an easier way. Put some of that tire glaze or tire dressing whatever on the tread. hahaha. My tires were spinning! It was great. I got it all on tape too.

Your cars don't have enough torque to spin the tires off the line? Wow. The Maxima can spin them rolling at 20mph still... Gees and you guys think the Acura is faster??? Whatever.

Yep, I wish I could've bought a Maxima instead so I could troll on this board and look like an idiot.

Or better yet, a motorcycle so I could troll every car board and tell the members how slow their cars are.

Now go sit in your Datsun and get out of here...

Gomez...I assume by your name that you are Latino. If that's the case you may be interested to look at the TLS forums and see that someone there is calling people dirty Puerto Ricans. Not very nice...

And how did you know I had a motorcyle. You are a smart person. If I were to fit in with this racist board, I';d ask if you learned that in your ESL (English as a second language) class. But then I'd be as racist as your fellow Acura owners...

Lil: TL is very easy to peel out. Turn TCS off and hit it.

I can spin my tires with TCS on. Granted, TCS turns on so they don't spin for long. Just slam on the gas, not that hard.

And she seemed so feisty in her other posts... what happened now... why isn't anyone being punished?

I don't know what's wrong with your cars but mine can spin out of every stop, with TCS off or on... and on a wet road forget it... it'll spin the tires at 40-50MPH...

A GS400 with 310 lb.ft of torque can't spin its tires off the line, and yet it will hand your maxima its ass and a half. I drove one for 6 months, and before and after a performance torque converter. That's what makes the difference. The stock TC on a GS400 is so conservative that even when you're trying to be agressive, it won't let you.

So in actuality, its ignorant and pointless to say that a car is slow if it can't spin its tires off the line.

The Maxima's gearing in the transmission is much lower than the TL's. The lower the ratio, the more torque you will feel..ergo, more wheel spin). I'm pretty sure the Maxima's torque maximum is a lot lower than the VTEC V6's. I don't even know why you would want to spin the front wheels, especially a non LSD driving car, you would just look plain stupid, IMO

I know the TL can spin for sure...I was at a stop light and I punched it hard and it started to spin and tcs kicked in...if i didn't have it on I'd say it would have spin. Anyway...I don't like to do that so I wouldn't do it on purpose.
