Speedo problems?

So My car has been doing this awesome thing were if you lightly step on the gas the speedo drops to 0 and then 5 or 10 seconds later shoots back up, anyone have this problem or one like it?

Have you looked at the wheel sensors and their wiring? And at the cv axle nice and clean? Dirt, grease may throw the reading off. I would rule that out first. Never heard of the particular problem.

Theyre located at the back of each wheel. Follow the axle. Youll see teeth at the wheel. Wheel sensors measure the rpm's at these teeth to determine speed. They also control the tcs system when they detect wheelspin.

Idk if theyre related to speedo.

Speedo input comes from wheel sensors. Alot of people who change wheels get incorrect info from incorrect tire/wheel size.

Rejckt has it right. Speedo gets its info from vehicle speed sensor located on trans. The vss, like the wheel speed sensors don't really know the vehicle speed, they just know how many rpms the wheels or trans output are turning. Different size tires raise or lower the rpms for any given speed, hence the error. I'm not saying that a manufacturer couldn't use wheel speed info for a speedo, [old air cooled vws ran a cable from the lf wheel] it's just that our cars don't do it.

Only 1 of the 2 sensors is known to fail, a second cause of speedo problem would be a bad ground

^ I stand corrected.

Do the sensors ground to the engine/trans?

^Not sure, but nothing's grounded to the tranny. I added an additional ground from tranny to chassis.
