Speeding ticket kindof..
So before I start. All you older guys/safety first guys, don't get on my case.. thanks.
So i was dippin down those nice twisty country rounds on my way to a nice day of skiing at my lakehouse. When a cop busts out of a driveway and flashes me over. I was going 55 in a 35. I remember reading all you guys said about being pulled over and was extremely courteous and nice, however extremely nervous. I think he could tell I was sincere and only gave me a "Failure to Obey Posted Speed Sign" instead of a real speeding ticket. I asked him what the difference was and I guess I don't get a point on my license and it is only $75 compared to a $200 comperable speeding ticket. Anyway you guys can vote and tell me if i got off the best i could or what.
^ranting. Kindof a buzzkill on my day. 1st time pulled over

First off, ask yourself if your car and, more importantly, you are equipped to go 55 in 35 on twisty roads.
Then think about what could've happened, like an accident perhaps. You got a failure ticket? Yes, you got off easy. 20 over in 35 is easily a 4-point ticket, at least in Michigan.

id say you got off good with a 75 dollar ticket. here any thing 21 or over teh posted limit is loss of license. our min speeding ticket is almost 200 bucks now so i dont even want to know what 20 over would be

Yes you got off real easy.
fsttyms1, actually anything 20mph over the posted speed limit in Wisconsin is not a automatic that they will pull your license. Back in Jan. I got pulled over by a Milwaukee County Sheriff doing 85 in a 55 (freeway 94E) and all I got was 6 points and $275. If you aren't having problems with points they won't pull your lciense, at least that's what I was told. Nice thing is I just paid my insurance for another 6 months and it actually went down $50 since the last time I renewed it. This was the first time since my ticket.

OK, my daughter is 17, but thank God she only drives a Nissan Altima and a 2000 model at that. OK, pretend this is coming from your dad, but without the attendant hassles that come with it:
1) You screwed up and were lucky that the cop gave you a break. Your decision is whether you will take that break and throw it away...and go screw up again...or add it to your experience and learn from it.
2) You are lucky to have a hot car at your age. I had a 1972 Ford Maverick POS when I was your age. You are driving a car that is more willing to kill you and someone else than you are willing to kill yourself and someone else. I don't care how much drivers ed you get, there is no substitute for experience. Get experience and use it to be a BETTER driver, not to take more risks.
3) Have fun, enjoy life and survive. There are better things to spend your money on than tickets and car insurance.

I'm thinking..only 55 in a 35? haha.
well to be serious, you did get off lucky..your fine is significantly less and looks much better than a speeding ticket that states your actual speed vs. posted speed limit. No cop where I live would let me go w/o making sure it dents my pocketbook doing 55 in a 35 zone.

You got off easy. Especially if you're young, cuz points will kill ya.
I got clocked at 85 in a 65 (maybe a 55) last year, got a "complaint ticket"....fine was $279 IIRC. I live in NY, but was nailed in CT. No points....I consider myself lucky.....ended up grabbing the 8500 X50 a month later pr so. That thing saved me a few times shortly after I picked it up.

No time man. I blew by him and saw his front end just poking out of his hiding spot. Then I was considering hiding in a driveway, but i saw him pulling out after me in my rearview

Putting aside that my chances of being pulled over are way less with a radar detector. Would the cop have given me a harsher ticket if he saw my radar detector? Can I hide it in the dash somehow? (i.e. the secret slot above the cd player?)
