don't know what to say bro but i empathize...i got busted last night for speeding too! sucks...he said he lasered me doing 51 around a 35 turn. he had the upper hand being a blind curve too...bastard! my record isn't so clean either, but there's not much i can do. maybe hit traffic school to remove the point (citation remains on record) and try to squeak by (not doing so well as you can see) and not get another.

Not to rub salt in your wounds, but after just getting your license back and already having eight points on your record, wouldn't common sense tell you to take the driving easy for a little while?
Shouldn't you still be in the break-in period anyway? Oh, now I get it! And here's your excuse for the judge: "Your honor, my owner's manual states that I'm not supposed to drive at any constant speed for the first 1,000 miles. I was only trying to ensure that my new automobile was broken-in properly, resulting in reduced emissions and increased fuel economy in future years. I was doing it for the good of the country, sir!"

Another happy trick in the detector-free state of Virginia is to leave the radar off at night then send out a single pulse of radar... anyone who instinctively hits their brakes is busted for having a detector.
nething 31mph+ over speed limit is 8 points in NY. if u dont beat the ticket, u can say goodbye to ur license
. neone interested in seeing some of the other points can check out NY DMV site:
http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/license.htm#points
and cops in NY and NJ sub-urban areas tend to pace u instead of clocking u. altough SI cops tend not to do that. but still, u gotta always be aware of ur surroundings.

BUt wait a minute. If they are comparing speedometers.. what happens if you request their radar tested? You have a right to do that? Whos to say taht their speedometer is more accurate than yours? Dude get a lawyer .. maybe youll have a chance because there was no radar involved?

My brother is a mechanic for the Westchester County Police, He informs me that they regularly certify the entire fleet of police cars on a Dyno to make sure that the police car speedometors are accurate (for precisely the situation you described). You can however ask for supporting documentation that the actual patrol car that stopped you has been certified, and the certfication is not expired.

Oh BTW make sure to get the records of the policer officers calibration of the radar. I think it is required for him to calibrate his radar before and after he has caught someone.

guys, if the cop is pacing u, he does not need to use a radar. a radar calibration is only necessary if he used radar to determine his speed. and winning a case against pacing is higly unlikely, especially over the length of several exits.

I feel your speeding ticket pain. Same kinda thing happened to me in NC. My 8500 went off and I say the cop going the same direction as me about 300 yards ahead. So I slowed down but I think he already saw me coming up behind him because I kept switching lanes passing other cars. I was going 80 in a 65. Anyway, he got off the highway and I thought to myself "I bet that sneaky bastard is gonna get back on and tail me w/ his radar off." So I watched to see if he got back on. I didn't see him so I went back to about 77 mph. 5 mins later I see him roaring up behind me but it was too late, he had me. If I had a dumba$$ detector it would have been a full signal pointed right at me. Fortunately, I hired a lawyer in NC who had the charge reduced to a non-moving violation carrying no points. Maybe you could do the same.

Well, what I am thinking of doing is paying this ticket and getting an out of state license. Since they don't do points transfer from state to state, at least I will be able to drive.

Be aware that you cannot apply for another state (e.g. NJ) license after you NY license is suspended. I've been in a similar situation 4 years ago. Get your NJ (or whatever) license ASAP while your NY license is still valid. Then delay you court day as much as possible. The longer you will have your new license the cheaper will be your insurance. You do not want to refer your insurance company to your suspended license for a while. The bad side of it is that you will not be able to drive in NYS.
