Some jerk hit my bumper

It's not a big deal, but someone rubbed up against my bumper with either their tire or a rubber part of their bumper.

They rubbed pretty hard - probably would have seen my car rock back and forth a little, but there was no paint lost from the bumper.

I've used my fingernail to remove the harder rubber deposits, but now there's a brownish stain on the paint. I've tried an all-purpose cleaner, lots of elbow grease, and a car polish.

I got a little of the remaining stain off, but there's still some there. Any ideas of how I can get the rest off?

I'm surprised your paint didn't come off. I feel like my car uses any excuse to lose paint.

Good luck.

Yeah - the paint on this car (after it was about 6 mo. old) really hardened up. It's some tough stuff!

Rubbing compound. Polish wouldn't do shit. Go get some rubbing compound. It's like 3-4 bucks for a big container of it that will last you a long time.

Make sure to wash and wax the area afterwards, though.

Damn - either you hold your breath every time your garage door comes down or you're an excellent judge of where the back of your car is! I have a hard time when I try backing up figuring out how much room there is behind me.

Haha - I actually have a bump stop that I pull up to so I know when to stop. There's about 6 inches of clearance in the back.

I have a huge workbench in the front of the garage and try to maximize my work area.
