So I'm driving home from work yesterday and some jerk who looked like he already had a few cocktails hits me . Not a major accident but he hit the side of my back bumper where it starts to make the bend towards the front of the car. No cracks in the bumper, just scraped off alot of paint and the bumper hangs funny right now.
I threatend to call the cops because he was drunk, so he gave me $350. Good thing is my body shop guy is gonna repaint my whole back bumper for $275. So come monday i have a fresh new back bumper and $75 profit.
Could have been worse.

Your from NYC so you know how the back bumper looks after awhile. I can't wait till it comes back looking brand new. I'll be a happy man on Monday. I was thinkin of have the body shop paint my grill silver like my car. How do you guys think that would look.

Yeah I sure do know how bad it looks especially parking in manhattan when every inch is used.

I think painting the grill would look nice.... there are a few pictures here on the forum but cant find it right now. Might as well since it is only going to just be a few more bucks or maybe he'll throw it in for FREE!!

Let me know which body shop you went to. I like to see the work if possible. I live in Queens NY also. Some a$$hole hit my car today while I was sleeping, i have no idea who. I woke up and went to my car to go to work and there it was....A HUGE F$%KING DENT. FFFF UUUU CCCC KKKK !!!!

Anyone has an idea how much it'll cost me to fix the dent? Imagine someone throw a basketball REALLY hard at the body of your car (betw rear wheel and bumper).

I went to D&H auto body on atlantic an 111 street. They do great work there, a lot of guys bring classic cars there because they are know for thier paint jobs.

Well unfortunatly I am not spoiled with low PA insurance costs. If I make a claim my insurance will go from 380 a month to over 400. My deductable is only 500, why would I make a claim when the damage is less. And some people claim they would take the money and then call the cops, I Guarantee none of you would have the balls to do that.

I'm not gonna laugh at you but, Pure's right, you could easily have unseen damage. The claim wouldn't have gone against your insurance so you wouldn't get a hike in your insurance. I guess we all have our life lessons to learn...

hey, you could have taken the money and then put in the claim on his insurance... He was drunk! he doesn't know all the details of what went on anyway. I just hope you don't have to come out of your pocket in the end.

You guys don't understand that in NYC your insurance still goes up. They don't care who's at fault because your still a liability if you get in accidents. And if you get into too many accidents (even no fault), or make too many claims you are dropped right away. When you are under 25 and you are insured in NYC it is a whole different ball game.
And you can hold your laughter because it was not that hard of a hit and it is strictly body damage on a plastic bumper. I was at the shop today, there is nothing wrong.

Yeah its like horrible in NYC.... everyone is at fault no matter what. Lady runs a stop sign hits my bro, totals his car and the insurance company (damn Allstate) deems me brother 25% at fault.
