I am a '00 and dont have any sound when locking/unlocking the car, all I hear is the door locking. I would love to have a soft beep because they are a few times that I am not sure if I locked it or not.

Maybe the 99's has a different sound when you press lock twice within 5 seconds. Like how the 6G Accords are.

My 2000 TL has the beep, I think the 99s are the only ones with the horn.

Whoever said it - yes. The 2000's and up have the beep. My old '99 utilized the horn for lock confirmation. My 02 has the beep. I think it's just a box that the switch is wired to rather than the horn. Maybe someone that has a helms manual can look up the wiring diagram.

Find out why it doesnt work. Are you pressing the Lock button twice? You have to do that to make it beep. Try replacing the little unit that makes the sound

Does your red security light, light up when you lock it? If it doesnt try inserting the key into the key slot and turn it right then take out the key and see if it beeps.
Happen to me before when this shop I go to uses the key instead of remote to open up the door which deactivates the alarm when you turn the key left in the key slot.

The red light does light up when pressed. I will try your tip but I doubt it will work.

I have a 99 and it uses the horn. When i press the horn on the steering wheel its a louder sound than when I lock it. Is it supposed to be some electrical Beep like on new cars.

i think to get ur car to beep when locking is to set it to do that on your remote.. i.e ..just like how you would set your memory seats

on the back of your remote it should say mem 1 or mem 2.. that indicates what memory seat you have. i.e when you unlock the car with the remote mem1, and open the driver door, the seat will adjust to the programed seat mem1 position. to set this up .. i think its something like holding down both the lock and unlock button for about 5 secs. doing that again will disable it. about the beep with the remote it has something familiar to do with those steps. maybe someone else can chime in.
