I checked it by putting a paper. And I get 9 fairly long flashes. can someone tell me what code it gives and what should i do.

lol, I misexpressed myself :p

I put a paper clip in the OBD connector, so that the check engine light would flash and it flashed 9 times. I wanna know what code it gives and whats its description.

P1456 (90) Evaporative emission (EVAP) system control leakage (fuel tank)

P1457 (90) Evaporative emission (EVAP canister system) system control leakage (fuel tank)

if check engine light comes on, it's usually something.. why not go over to autozone or advanced autoparts and have them check it out for free??

 

A 1456 is an evap leak on the tank side.
A 1457 is an evap leak on the canister side.
The only thing that seperates these two systems is the two-way valve.
The two-way valve can set both codes though.
Most common cause I think is overfilling the fuel tank and saturating the two-way valve, bypass solenoid and maybe the charcoal canister in an extreme case.
