Slim Jimming the TL

Nice to know that when our TLs get "slim jimmed" the car alarm goes off so no thieves can do it without causing attention.

(Locked myself out of my car and the Deer Park Police had to stick the slim jim in my car door to open it and the alarm went off to my suprise)

Just an interesting fact.

Wait, the alarm went off simply because an object was inserted into the door?

I didn't know that. That's nice.

Not exactly because the lock was picked and the alarm knew it was getting broken into

once the door gets unlocked with out the key or the remote the alarm will go off. roll down your window. lock the car with the remote. wait a little bit then reach in and hit the unlock button or pull the lock tab up.. the alarm will go off

Oh, yeah, I knew that.

But I thought it had some kind of a sensor for slim jims inside the door panel.

Our stock alarm sucks ass. Break the window and our alarm won't go off. And since our alarm arms off when you open it through the key hole, if someone "master keyed" your car, the alarm wouldn't go off. Stock alarms should be beefed up, but since it sucks, I got myself an aftermarket alarm (clifford RSX 3.5).

Yeah window breakage doesn't set off the alarm. But if you break the window, and unlock the door from the inside, the alarm goes off. So technically it indirectly is safe against window breakage.... That is unless they climb into the windows - Dukes-of-Hazard style.
