Simple question about Timing Belt Kits
I'm in the market for the OEM Timing belt kit! my car is almost due for the 205K job.
Now the issue is that my first and second (60K and 114K) timing job was done at the dealer but this time I want to do it myself to save the labor..
The issue is I don't want to spend that much in parts (less than 450 bucks if possible) but I cannot find a specific OEM KIT at ebay for the J32A2 there is only for the J32A3 (Acura 3G TL 3.2) is there any difference at all?
This is the kit

Thanks for any Input in advance!

Not that one. What you want is the Aisin TKH-001 kit which has all the OEM parts. It goes for under $200....sometimes around $160. This is the one I installed and others here too.

Yeah, but I'd try to find a better price. There's one on ebay for $189. Prices seem to be all over the board. As long as it's TKH-001 it has the proper OEM parts. Amazon has one for $218 and free shipping.

^ I see the Mitsuboshi timing belt which is the same as OEM..
The Idler and Tensioner are both KOYO which are OEM.

""Kit Includes: AISIN Water Pump, AISIN Hydraulic Tensioner, Koyo Idler Bearing, Koyo Tensioner Bearing, Mitsuboshi Timing Belt.""

Confirm this. I bought the same kit from Amazon a couple of months or so ago. Came in a couple of days (must be an Amazon local merchant or something). I didn't do the job myself, but the mechanic who did the job said it was indeed OEM and the same as what he would have put in. I think he mentioned something close to $300 as cost of parts.

Yah since its sold as a Kit "TKH-001" it must come in a sealed box or something not a handful of handpicked items... That why I believe the Amazon package is the same as the Ebay one.

Yeah, just shop for the best price as Victus1 earlier stated and you'll save some bucks for the coolant and other misc. things that ya decide to replace while the everything's opened up at the time.
Good luck, and if ya come up with any tips or shortcuts along the way, please pass them along to other potential DIY'ers !!!

I would also recommend you change the front crankshaft seal during the tbelt service. It's right there in front of you and the seal is cheap straight from the dealer. Use a drill to drive a screw in it and pull it out with pliers so you won't scratch the mounting surface. Then oil the new one and use a small mallet to lightly tap it in place.
It's also a good time to change the serpentine belt and tensioner....and the power steering belt. I installed the Gates premium belts for around 10 bucks each and the Gates tensioner (OEM part) for around $55.

^ I actually was considering in getting the Lightweight pulley but Seals are a must! I will do Cams and Crank seals just crossing my fingers so I can get the pulley by the time I do the service.
Tensioner and Belt was done around a year ago so Ill re-use them.. Need to change P/S Belt tough still riding the 11 year old original
and 3.2TLc
Yah Im going to change FULL A/F + Thermostat..

difference between 1999 and 2002 water pump kit??
Okay I am a newbie what is the difference between a 1999 and 2002 order pump kit for a Acura TL? the reason I asked is that have a water pump kit for 2002 here already and want to install it on a 1999 that needs a water pump( I have two cars a 1999 and a 2002) you all have a great forum and I'm learning a lot about the cars thanks Bob 441

You should be able to cross reference the part # for the water pump easily.
Chances are that it's the same, but just to be sure....check out compatibility.

The crankshaft seal is right in front of you when you remove the timing belt. It would be a crime not to change it since it's cheap and only takes a few minutes. Like it would be a crime not to change the rear main seal when you remove the transmission.
As for adjusting valves....I wouldn't do them at the same time as the tbelt. Finish one job, make sure the car runs fine, then start another job.
This is what I changed when I did my timing belt:
I used the Aisin kit (timing belt, water pump, tensioner, tensioner pulley, idler pulley)
Power steering belt, serpentine belt and tensioner.
Crank seal
Crankshaft sensor (again, because it's right there and easy to change and prone to failure with age)
