Side Air Bag Light On?

This pass weekend I was parking on a slight hill and
my Side Air Bag Light came on for about 10 seconds.

I'm thinking its just a stupid glitch but I hope its not
an indication of other problems to come.

Has this happen to anyone?

Did you have a passenger in the car? If you did and the person was leaning in the path of the side airbag, sensors in the seat will shut off the bag and turn on the light.

A briefcase or bag of groceries will also do it.

So that's normal right? If someone/something is in the way
of the sensor then the light will come on...

Where is the sensor located? and if
this is common then why would they place the sensor in
that particular spot.

thanks man..thought i got a lemon..

Where is the sensor located?

The sensors are located in the seat bottom and seatback. It's meant to determine if a child or other "small" person has fallen asleep or is leaning against the door. It was designed this way to reduce injuries to a child from a side-airbag deployment if they were leaning against the door.

I notice mine going off all the time when my wife is getting in or out of the car, while the car is on.

Perfectly normal and it's all covered in the manual.
