Should I ditch the moon visor?

I plan to pick up my car this weekend assuming my bank fed-ex my papers this week.

I've been thinking about the visor which I negotiated in the price. Dealer said it is not popular. I haven't seen how it looks in person since I've been negotiating over phone. What do you folks think about it? Can I easily remove it if I don't like it?

Am I better off getting a trunk tray instead?

Is there a site that contains the invoice prices for these OEM accessories?

Thanks!!!! Damn I am anxious to get my car!

I got the moonroof visor not for the looks of but for its functionality. I'm really not an A/C guy. I only use it when I must. Otherwise I love to cruise with the windows and moonroof open. The visor makes a significant difference on the amount of windnoise. You can easily have a conversation with your passengers with it open at hwy speeds. I would not purchase it solely for cosmetic reasons though.

I like the visor. It is not the most spoty add-on but it is more of a comfort add-on. The wind does not cause a huge turbulence inside the cabin and the noise is drastically reduced. You can go without then add it if you would like later on.

I have one and like it. I don't mind the way it looks either. Cleaning under it and drying is alittle bit of a pain. But I figured out that its easy to clean under it if you open the moonroof.

One thing I did notice is that the "tilt up" feature of the moon roof makes a lot of wind noise.

I did not get one at first, but then changed my mind. Now I'm glad I did. It looks good and is functional.

I have the moonroof visor, the dealer threw it in for free when I purchased my TLS. I think it looks ok. It really doesn't look that bad, not too luxurious though, but it does have its benefits, as stated above. Cleaning it can definately be a pain.

Question

I don't have one but I'm considering due to the wind noise (even @ 40 mph). However I'm more concern about cleaning. Do things like leaves get stuck easily underneath it?

Thumbs down

I wouldn't get it. If you don't clean it ofter, the paint under it will get destroyed.

I personally wouldnt get the visor just because I'm 100% autoclimate control kind of guy. Adding anything to the exterior would just add additional drag and added wind noise (if you have everything closed). As for the trunk tray. DONT GET IT! I was seriously dissappointed by the looks of it when I bought mine. Thankfully I was reimbursed when I took it back for a refund through the dealer...but the money I spent on tax was lost. O well. I think the OEM felt interior with a properly fastened cargo net looks much classier than the vinly/plastic trunk tray.

Same here, I never get. If you want to ruin the paint job this is a s good a way as any. If you do get it make sure you remove the moonroof visor periodically to clean and wax underneath where it meets the roof. It can, and will, destroy the paint underneath if you are not consciencous in maintaining this area .

Moonroof visor is great at reducing wind noise when the sunroof is open. I would recommend it.

Caution...
I had this on my Maxima and decided to take it off after a few months. Even though it hugs the paint with a rubber insulator, it also marks up the paint where it is very noticeable that it was there. I decided not to get one on my TLS after the dealer told me that the paint is damaged after just a few days of it being installed.

Just a thought.

I have one and love it. I had the car for a week without it, and although I love opening the moonroof, the wind from even slow speeds would mess up my 'do and blast rear seat passengers in the face. Now with the visor on I can travel at 80mph on the highway and there is *barely* any wind noise or disturbance in the cabin. If you use the climate control or A/C almost exclusively and never open your moonroof then don't get it. Below I've made a list of what (I think) are the pros and cons of the moonroof visor. I'm sure others will add if I've left something out:

PROS:
1. Drastically reduced wind noise in cockpit
2. Drastically reduced wind disturbance in cockpit
3. Allows cockpit to be vented in hot weather without exposing interior (see below)
4. Visually looks attractive

CONS:
1. Reduces overall size of opening of moonroof by about 5 inches
2. Adds some aero drag to the car (possibly reducing overall top speed--unconfirmed)
3. Serious threat to paint if removed
4. Slight increase in wind noise with tilt feature
5. Visually looks unattractive
6. Difficult to clean under
7. Plastic can scratch easily

Although it seems like there are more cons than pros, I love having mine. One of the biggest pluses for me is #3 above. I park the car in an open lot at work with no shade. I can crack the moonroof a couple inches to allow hot air to rise and escape out of the interior during the day without fear of a bird bombing my nice leather, or even a quick passing shower. Makes a difference when I return to the car 8 hours later.

As for the paint issue, I look at a moonroof visor like a nose bra. If you're going to put one on, fine, but don't plan to ever take it off because there will be visible signs of where it once was, even after a short period of use.
