Shocking! Another Transmission Episode...
So I brought my 2003 TL-S in the other day for the Transmission Recall - No problem the guy says, everything will be fine.
Get a call the next day that it needs a new transmission and they will give me a loaner. I get there and they give me this p.o.s Toyota Echo.
4 Days later and I get a call from the Service Manager that Acura of California has denied my warranty claim for a new transmission stating that the condition of mine is not bad enough to warrant replacement.
Are these guys kidding or what? This is a 35K car with under 30K Miles.
Anyone have any advice on recourse short of selling this thing when I get it back to avoid future nightmares?

well if the dealer said that the tranny was bad, then told you it wasnt i dont know what to say. have you ever noticed any symptoms of it going? if its not going or showing any signs of failure then why should it be replaced?

Yea..thats why it should be under warranty for the mileage regardless of whether or not its under the transmission warranty

Wow... My '02 TL-P had 33.5K miles on it, and my dealership replaced the transmission without question. It only took 2 days, and they gave me an '05 TSX as a loaner.
I would go to another dealership...

That is right. Why did they tell you everything was fine, then called back and said you need a new transmission? Is it because they need something from your car, or is it because business was slow and they need some work to do if acura approved it? If it is true, that also tells you that there is a bad sign on your tranny otherwise why would they tell you it is bad if there is no bad sign on the intermal parts? I personally think there is nothing wrong with your tranny. They are trying to scam acura and use your car for their claims; hence, the echo.
I don't know, but I'm starting to get very scared.
I DID get a recall notice, that is why I brought the car in the first place. Additionally, I had been noticing the RPM's "jumping" up/down about 200RPM when the car was held at exactly 30 MPH.
All in all, I am quickly losing faith in Acura and this vehicle. I love the styling and the engine of the automobile, but I do not want to be "stuck" with this thing after the warranty expires and no one wants it.
From what I was told, they removed the transmission, took pictures and sent them to Acura of CA (is this normal??). It was AFTER they had done all of this (and ordered a "new" transmission) that they were informed by Acura that they would not support this claim.
Now the Sales Manager is discussing this with his Acura Rep. In the mean-time, I get to drive around in this "hot" Toyota Echo. Good thing though - the chicks dig it!

I just assumed when they said you needed a new tranny it was because of the third gear clutchpack problem. It seems they were checking the second gear (recall problem). I don't think anyone has gotten a replacement tranny from second gear tooth being burned, which is what the recall is about.
