Well.. sometimes i just shift my gear to N just to let it slide... then shift back to D when i need to accelerate.. would this hurt the gear or tranny?

Thanks!

1. What r riceboys?? or cars that look rice?
2. When u say "buff it out" what is that? U mean take those machine and really BUFF it!? coz i got some minor scartches.. not deep to the black yet.. just on the surface. (clear coating?) ... so.. i dunno what to do. I have turtle wax. should i just give it a good load of it on the paint? lol

Thanx!!

btw. i'm riceboy coz i eat rice.

if your not gassing it, it shouldnt do too much harm. if your pushing the gas, you wont be driving a tl for much longer. why the hell do you do that anyway? is it fun?

If your rpms are high when you shift gears back to D5 than that could do some harm to the tranny. But since you probably arent pushing the gas pedal when in neutral, you should be fine.
As for ricers, they are something you dont want to be!

I doubt hes talking about a nuetral drop, more like just putting it in nuetral going down a big hill or something - people who drive a stick a lot probably would think it logical.. not that I do it.

Ricer is generally someone with a pimped up import or compact that thinks he/she is king of the road, betta and faster like everyone else

Buffing it out technically does mean to us a buffing machine to remove scratches. As long as they aren't into and thru the paint they can be taken out.

Oh yeah, and no, you won't hurt your tranny by doing that, as long as ur off the gas.

Thanks people!!!

Well.. i did the N to D5 thing not to show off.. my car is all stock so it won't make the big "WOOOM" sound even if i rev it hard in Neutral. I'm new to driving as all of u know. I always drive in D4, and then later on when i wanna save some gas, i just shift it back to D5 (well.. dunno why but u know.. hehe). I do this quite often actually.. d4 to d5 while on highway around 110km/h. This won't hurt the engine or tranny right?

The D5 to N is coz that, when i push the gear to D5 from D4, i push it too hard so it bumped into N!!! haha.. so i had to shift it back to D5 from N. I don't think i was gassing it when it's in N, but sometimes, i make a mistake and i hear my engine goes WAAAAAH/... when that happens. i just let it calm down and then shift to D5. (while on highway).

Yah.. i know it's bad... i'll try to avoid these kind of things now.

So, what about shift from D5 to D4 and then gas it hard? or Shift D4 to D5 and gas it hard. would those hurt the engine?

Sometimes on highway, i just downshift from d5 to d4(not in SS mode) for the engine break to speed down.. would this hurt the tranny or engine?

Thank you very much !!!!

Since you are new to driving like you pointed it out, my 2c will be sticking to D5 all the time & let the computer figure it out for you. Once you become a experienced driver, then you can mix it up with the SS mode or switch from D4 to D5 or from D5 to D4 depending your situations.

Enjoy your TL ...

I drive them like crazy, rev it and shift this and that.. i didn't care. But since this is my 1st car.. it's all my.. i don't wanna hurt it so fast. That's why i wanna gather some experienced advice on it. Thanx
