Hey guys, noticed a few more minor things on my car that may need attention. Obviously from my username I have a 2000 TL. The first item is the sunroof rattling when I have the shade pushed back but the glass closed. Can this be a minor WD-40 fix? Also, I noticed on the outside B pillar black trim that if you examine it up close as in 1-2" away you can start to see hairline cracks and fading that are starting to begin. I have noticed some of these cars w/ the B pillars re-painted but they looked awful and had an orange-peel paint effect, rather than the smooth glassy-like finish that comes stock. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from becoming worse or get it re-done to where it looks right? I'm a perfectionist. Lastly, I noticed that when backing up and turning the wheel to the left, only after the car has been sitting, I get a 1/2 a second groan from the steering as if something is loose. It only does it one time after I get in the car to go somewhere and that's it. It's odd because that's the only time it happens and only when turning the wheel in that direction. It's not a popping like a CV joint noise. I'm wondering if its just a bushing or something loose in the steering since it doesn't do that while I'm driving and the CV joints are fine. Any input would be great help. I love the car; well-built, just stupid minor crap that bothers me. I am not taking it back to the shop even though I still have about 4k worth of warranty. I've found that they screw shit up more than they repair; so it's not worth it for minor items anymore. Last time they scratched my interior B-pillar trim down by the seat and got grease on my seat which I had to clean off. Then, they had to re-attach the facia on the dash 3 times before they got it right. (Got that bad climate control unit replaced). I guess even if i had bought it new, things would still go wrong. Sunroof- This is a known issue. The dealer usually fixes this if you are still under warranty. They place teflon tape to reduce the noise.

B-Pillar-This has occurred to me as well. I dont know if the dealer will do anything about this. If you are talking about the black trim(it wrinkles up for some ppl) then the dealer will replace it, again if you are under warranty.

The groan sound- Never heard of this happening to anyone.

IF you are under warranty, take all your issues to the dealer, and usually they will fix any problems. Good Luck.

 

the sunroof problem I have for already good 1.5 years. I piad 60 bux for them to put the tape on my roof, it still rattles... I complained to Acura's main office....I will never buy an Acura again only for one reason, the customer service sux ballz!

They told me that my rattle comes from the inside, behind the ceiling, some bolt of the sunroof is loose, and in order to reach it, they have to take the ceiling's lining off, which will cost around 300-500 dollars...i told them to suck me off...my exact words.

Regarding groan sound - check power steering fluid. I bet you have low level.

 

holy shit. this sunroof issue is not limited to the tl at all. my dad bought a 1990 honda accord exr (ex in the USA) brand new from the dealer, and the entire time he owned it (11 years) the stupid ass sunroof rattled. then in 2001 he bought a TL, same fucking shit. friends of mine have had the same problem, hell *I* had the same problem with my '91 Prelude SR, ages ago. its so stupid that honda being the amazing company that it is, still cant get some simple things right. another example is the stupid rattling heat shields they put on their cars. im sure most of you know what im talking about. work it out honda, work it out.
