Question seriously thinking about hitting the bottle!!!

my 99 just turned 14,000 miles! i own it , have alot invested, it's modded to the bone engine wise, and pretty much everywhere else! and i need/want more HP!!! gotta beat up on all the new whips! so, even though i have long thought and do think that NOS could eventually hurt the car, i don't care!!! you only live once!!! spoke to alot of guys who have NOS with no problems and many more miles than me. everybody has a different setup though? from what i have read and found out, i think the zex wet 75 shot would work best for my baby, with a big fat nipple! anybody want to throw in their 2 cents, and experiences with NOS, and their setups? thanks, S. a.k.a kman156

Is this a typo ??
14K miles in 4 years. You must keep this car garaged and babied. I put 14K miles on mine in 9 months.

My boy with a CL-S that works at Acura put Zex kit on his, the first night he used it (against a Camaro Z28) his tranny went out... It was a 75 shot but the kit was for a 4 banger he said so it prolly wasnt even getting the whole 75 hp.

haha..modded out? is that possible? instead of Nitrous..how bout tuning your engine? Maybe boring it out to 3.5L, putting some more aggresive cams on, and custom high compression pistons? Or do the auto-manual swap..theres 20-30hp right there!

VTECRR I am very tempted to get 50shot (wet) as well.

My friend has an Accord V6 (80shot dry) and he is already having a jerky tranny. He is using the traditional NOS system.

May I ask how you guyz keep your car maintained? Do you take it to the dealership for service? If so, they must be really NICE to work on your car. My dealership strongly disagrees with aftermarket parts.

NSX4DR how is the NX express system? That purge looks ridiculous

VTECRRR, what performance mods do you have? I have a 99 TL too, and I'd like to know what you've done to your ride.

many dealerships sell aftermkt comptech mods, and will install other mods. it all depends on who you know!

the so-called "3.5 TL-X" upgrade is ridiculous! monitarily, and mechanically! my engine is tuned ! t-body is bored as much as possible! I/H/E, plugs, etc... the 3.5 conversion would also blow up my 99, and it's tranny! it's blowing up on the type-s engines who have done it! not an option, but for less than $1,000, i can have that extra 50-75 hp boost when i want it!

ridiculous? no..it's very doable. It shouldn't cause much of a problem at all. All you are doing is enlarging the cylinders by a bare amount.. .3L. You might wanna reinforce internals like pistons, rods, crankshaft, which would give you more power. And this should not blow your tranny. Well if you gun it enough..then again if you gun it enough w/ the stock engine you'll mess up your tranny also. DON'T USE NITROUS. It will kill your engine/tranny. N20 is 33% oxygen..that's a boost of 23% from regular air. That's a huge boost. If you really want to go nitrous though..you need to get bigger injectors, a better fuel pump, fuel rail, standalone comp? if the kit doesnt come w/ one. And TUNE by some kind of computer system!! Oh and you prolly want a tranny upgrade from levelnine? I think that's the name of the company, or else you'll end up blowing it big time.

it's level 10, and

everything you just mentioned that you think is needed for N2O is just as expensive if not more!, i don't want to buy another car! and from what i have gathered, all those upgrades are not needed for a simple nos setup? has anyone on this board running the bottle replaced their fuel pump? with a supersharger yes, that would be needed! and the type-s can accept the 3.5 mdx injectors, on the reg tl , they don't fit. spyder, how much experience have you had with nos? thanks.

No modifications to the engine are necessary for nitrous. I ran nitrous for over a year with no problems. I've run as much as 120 shot, but usually ran 75-100 shot. No modifications other than non-platinum plugs (lower heat range). The only people who say nitrous isn't safe are the ones that are scared. Not scared to use it, but scared you'll beat them with less $$ invested........

kman why you change your name to VTECRRR???
Did you move or something? I though I remember you living in illinois or something...

Anyway you shouldn't need new injectors or a new fuel pump - stock will work fine. what NSX says it true nitrous gets a bad rap because A. its cheap B. its fast C. it runs out.
Just think for a second, if it didn't run out everyone would use N2O!!

Your 99 TL is one of the most modded 99's I have seen pics of I totally understand you not wanting to get another ride.

I was wondering, what body kit is that? And, it deosn't look molded right. It kinda stands out... Is it supposed to look that way? Just wondering... As for boaring out our engines, I've talked to a couple of machine shops, and I've been told that our engines are already pretty much pumped for optimal performance... I dunno what the deal is.
