Selling my soul to the devil
Selling my soul to the devil
Since yesterday my TL has been acting up. I m taking it to the dealer but thats it, this June i am taking delivery of a white 330ci with all the options including Navi. I am sick of my tranny problems, my engine started stalling yesterday and today, i have rattles everywhere and just other annoyances. I know someone with a 328ci that doesnt have any probs or rattles and they beat the hell out of their car. I cant wait to get the bimmer, and i will miss the TL, but i've had it. The car has spent more time at the dealer than with me, and with work and school i cant afford to take time off for dealer trips. I'll let you guys know whats wrong with my car so that you can look out for any problems i have, i gotta help you guys out too.
Yeah, i tried man. I tried to give the dealer and the car chances, but if it's not the tranny than its the engine, if its not the engine its the tranny and brakes and squeeks and rattles. I mean i love the car, but at this point in my life i dont have time for hassles. At least when ever my cousin has a problem BMW has a lender for him that very day. Acura sets up appointments 2 to 3 weeks later for me. I'm just gonna get the bimmer and start fresh.
Sorry to see you go BIGMAN! You're an integral part of this board.
Ever consider the new E-Class that's coming out this July??? It might not have the sport handling, but it oozes luxury, refinement, and class.

No, I meant the E-class.
And when you say they are in two different classes, the E is in the class above the 3! You can get the new base E for the same cost as the 3 series.
It has keyless entry and ignition. Driver just has to have the signal beacon in his pocket.

I am not sure if your car was photoshopped in your pic, but let me remind you of a few things.
1) Springs and lowering the car will cause rattles to show. Rougher ride, stiffer chasis = more rattles.
2) Bigger wheels also cause more rattles, but will also cause your rotors to be under more stress when braking. Heavier the wheel, the harder it is to stop.
If the TL or CL kept almost stock, you would not have issues with these. The Tranny, I can not explain.

not to rain on your parade, but my step dad is probably going to have to get the transmission replaced on his 2001 330ci (auto). any time you get on it it clicks into safe mode and then the car has to be stopped and shut off to run right again. my friend who has an m3 cabrio is having problems with his transmission clunking. mercedes and lexus have the best quality and reliability IMO, but i would still rather have a bimmer for the fun to drive factor.
Damn mario, I didn't know your TL was acting up. Sorry to hear about that but you'll be pimping with the 330ci!:wow: Don't forget what we talked about in PM and let me know so I can get it.
BTW, be careful with the BMW. They are known for their electrical problems. And if something goes wrong it the BMW, it is mad $$$!
Good luck with everything.

Sorry to hear that, what year is your TL? Oh and btw, do NOT get a BMW auto transmission, those things shift horribly slow, and if you thinkg sports shift is a joke on our cars... well wait until you try BMW's
I hope you are getting a manual.
I hope you are getting a manual.
Update. My pic is photoshopped, my car is not lowered and my rims are 18's, but these problems have been there since the stock wheels were there. Tranny was replaced 4 months ago and this one is now acting up. I barely drive the car, i use the beater car most of the time. I am getting the 330ci in manual so i will not have to worry about tranny issues. I will not get rid of the car till June though, that's when my car comes in. I will always be around, i can't go to any other boards. I will always be here and at the CL board. My father is thinking about buying the car from me for 20 g's and giving it to my lil bro after it gets fixed. He will be more than happy to drive that, and probably wont notice any rattles and be too scared to drive it hard. I am taking my chances with bimmer. I took my chances with the TL knowing about tranny problems, rattles and other things but i chanced it anyway. I will chance the BMW because of the great service i see my cousin getting. His car never has probs. They freakin give him lender for an oil change. How nuts is that?
Acura of Boston gives out lenders for oil changes as well. if u dont call in advance (like a day ) then you'll have to wait for the car to arrive. however if u call itll be there when u get there for the oil change. Sorry that you're having soo much problems with your car. I think my next car will be the 330CI fully loaded as well. but the problem is that a fully loaded 330CI is $7500 more expensive then the 330CI fully loaded.
A man can only take so much...Great choice with the 330. I just wouldn't get you expectations too high. Every car will have it's share of problems. Let us know how the 330 works out many members would probably consider a 330 as well.

As a former Bimmer owner (M3), and member of the local CCA, you should love the 330. Great car, yes, perfect, no. I've had two BMW's in my past (good friend, and mom) that were "lemon lawed". It can happen to any make - except maybe Mercedes
Just Kidding. Seriously, you don't get on top of JD Power surveys by having LOTS of problems, but all will have SOME problems. Sorry to hear that you got one with more than its fair share. Just pray to the Bimmer gods that you don't get one of their bad ones. Even if you do, you should have a great service experience!
PS - be sure to investigate the dreaded 3rd to 2nd misshift; I have no idea if it's a problem in the E46's, but it blew up its fair share of E36's!
Good luck man!

sorry to see you go Bigman... i hate losin ppl on this board that live right near me. If your personally selling your car, id b willing to buy in exactly 1 year, when my lease is up... but im sure ur planning on selling it pretty soon.
neway, how much does that 330 come out to? if its over 40, might as well get the M3, i think its $50k, but we all know with bimmers that u cant really get a car for what they say u can. like a 3series for just under 30k! YEA RIGHT.

I'm getting the 330ci with navi, bi-xenon, premium package, sport package, manual tranny, in white with black leather. We came to a deal of 41,500. I tried for an M, but they are selling it for 60,000 before texes and everything and also there is a wait and a half. If i really want it sooner i can get someones M for about 10000 over sticker, not worth it, not at this point in my life. I am trading my car in or selling it to my father. I wont have it in a year. but i dont recommend you buy it anyway. I wouldnt sell this car to anyone. My dad wants it because he knows whats up with it and the dealer will fix it. He wants my lil bro to drive it so that he doesnt have to get him a new car. Therefor if anything breaks he wont feel it as much as he would if he had bought a new one.

I guess it just gets to the point where enough is enough. Enjoy the bimmer though.
