Question Select and reset buttons

What does pressing the select and reset buttons do at the same time for at least ten seconds in the II position? I heard a beep then the temperature gauge changed from -2, -1, 0.

Hello,

I have done this before by accident I tried to reset the maint. light.

I think it is to adjust the temperture so it will have a more accurate reading.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Hope I helped.

hold the select & reset button at the same time for 10secs and it will go thru the number cycle (+/- 3 degrees) and you let go on the desired number.

But what's the point of that? Let's say the temp is 10.. u adjust it to +1 . I suppose it reads 11 now.. BUT why do u want to adjust it? You think u r more accurate than the car ?

i can be higher than what the actual temp is simply cuz the sensor is located on the front bumper where all the heat is from car exhaust. i do notice what is reported on the radio is usually lower than what i see displayed in the dash. i adjusted mine 1C less.

but how do I know for sure? I find that when the car is sitting for long periods of time, the temp gauge will read wayyy higher than it actually is. As soon as I begin to drive a bit, the temp drops like 5-7 degrees.

Should I adjust it? I don't want to fu(k anything up.

My owners manual says that holding these two buttons with the key in II resets the "service required" light. It did exactly that, the light went off. Not sure about this the Temp reset?

the temp gets higher when the car is off cause of the heat that radiates off the radiator. once you start moving the warm air away from it and start driving for a sec it will start to read more accuratly. its is adjustable incase it is off. if you were to get your self a good digital thermometer and see what it says and yours is different, you are able to adjust it. unless you really think its off i would just leave it
