Post Same seats as in the CL-S

I LOVE the seats in the CL-S, much more comfortable and grippy then my Lex. I would love to get the wife the TL-S, but I would really enjoy it more if had those same seats. Does anyone know if they will be? Basically, will the car have the same interior as the CL, only a bit larger?

I am pretty sure that they are to be the exact same as the CL-S seats.

I've heard the same thing. Both Type-S models share the same seats....

I heard that the TL-S seats aren't as comfortable. That is according to someone who sat in a TL-S at the LA autoshow. I sure hope they are still comfortable though. I love the the CL-S seats too.

Thanks for the Link Hunter!
Here is my problem with the TL as outlined in the article:
"Don't look to the TL's styling for anything groundbreaking. Though the 2002's design vastly improves the current TL, it still looks too much like an Accord. Since the point of the TL is to be a kind of anti-Accord mid-size sport sedan (despite being built on the Accord platform), it's a bit disappointing Acura didn't go further out on a design limb."

I really wish Acura would step out on that limb and make a splash with this model. They know how to do it(NSX) but they seem intent on remaining steadfast in their blandness with their other lines.

Thanks for the reply. I really hope this is the case, as I mentioned earlier those seats are just soooo damn comfortable, at least as you are not a fat bastard that is...

That article says Type-S starting under 30K, but Car & Driver is saying around 33K or $3500 more than current model.

I don't think the seats are the same.
The bottom portion of the seat on the TL is flat (look at the pics) and the CL has side supports.

Ditto. Look at the CL brochure and you'll notice the difference.

You have to keep in mind that the car at the show is still considered a pre-production car, therefore what you see at the show may not be exactly what you get. The only reason I'm assuming the seats are the same is b/c Acura is marketing the Type-S basically as a line of cars, so one would think that the CL-S and TL-S would be very similar if not identical in almost every way except styling. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!!

I'm not making excuses for Honda/Acura stylists, but the TL is Acura's "bread and butter" car -- perhaps they feel they can't afford to go out on the proverbial limb with the styling. You surely don't want to offend any potential buyers with the looks. I think the TL is handsome (for lack of a better word) but not very striking. With that said, I think it looks better than most of it's competition. I'm withholding judgement on the 2002 facelift until I see it in person.

This thing about the seats in the TL-S is weird...Acura put the CL seat BACK portion in the TL-S, but the ASS portion is exactly like the TL version. They're such corner-cutters! Cheap bastards! At least that's what they had at the auto shows, and in the pictures in Motor Trend.

Actually those TL seats in those pics are NOT the same as the CL-S. The only thing that looks the same are the headrests! I don't think those seats are even preforated(little holes). The seat back looks different right below the headrests and the side bolstering does not look as supportive. Also the seat bottom looks different. Its hard to tell from that pic.

The horizontal portion of the TL-S seat in that article is definitely different from the seats in my 2000 TL. The side bolsters are much more pronounced in the TL-S picture and in fact have a seperate stich line whereas mine doesn't (aside from the stiches in the little vinyl trim strip). The article also does mention the perforated leather.

If you have the time, go to acura.com and view the interior QuickTime movies in "Interactive Gallery" for both the CL and TL. From what I gather (assuming the seats we see in the TL-S pics do, in fact, make it to production) the CL-S, TL-S and TL have seats unique to themselves (contrary to what I said above... ).
