Question Safely Removing Mudguards?

Ok I was at the Acura Dealership today and saw a WDP Type-S w/ 21,000 miles. It was in good condition for only 25,000. The problem is I would want to add a body kit, but it has mud guards. I know of the problems ppl have had removing them. I wanted to know if there is anyway to remove them safely w/o scratching the paint?

It has nothing to do with removing them. If they have been on for 21,000 miles I would bet anything that they have already eaten through the paint.

See if you can bend one of them back away from the body and look to see what kind of damage there is.

Maybe they would touch it up for you. Not sure how good it would look, but it's down low where most people won't see it.

Eaten through the paint? That sounds extreme.

Please be more specific.

I have 3k miles and mud guards. Not sure if I will ever get the kit, but I do not want anything "eating" away the paint.

Yup, I guess "eaten" was not the correct term. But when you see what it does, you'll realize what I meant.

I bought my TL used with 40K miles, Needless to say the mudguards etched away at the paint. Remove them A.S.A.P. if you already haven't.

All you have to do is every few moths, take them off (takes 2 min) and clean under them and put a coat of wax under there. I had a 00 TL with 31000 when I got rid of it, and I never had a problem under there if you follow those steps.

i have 30,000 miles on my tl-p and i have yet to take off the mudguards, i've had no concern until recently, and now that i've heard hte stories i dont think i want to take mine off lol. i live up north where there is snow and salt on the roads, i'm sure that the salt has worked its way inbetween the mudguard and the paint.. yikes
