S2000 Tips
S2000 Tips
I have thought that our stock TLs Tips are kinda small and weak. I believe they are the same as the normal SOHC VTEC Honda models. All Hondas including the TLs have the same size diameter "tube" coming of the muffler. I'm thinking of putting the stock S2000 tips on my TLs because they are a lot better looking and maybe a half inch diameter larger. I think this would make the TLs look great, just like the stock CLs tips (oval) look great. If not S2000 tips, maybe the DOHC VTEC Honda models that are a bit larger. What you think?
The tips just look to small for the rear, especially if you have wider tires and a lowering.
These tips also give the stock tyoe apearance and not "cofee cans" like some exhausts.
I can get 2 for $100 at my local Honda dealer special order.

Why don't you just get the stainless steel exhaust tips from ACP
www.autocarparts.com
It's less than $50. I got them and they look much better than stock ones.

I agree the stock tips are too short and puny. Theyre tin cans. I got the slanted tips from this site here and they're much better quality and are longer to cover the whole pipe all the way back to the cans. $50US will get you nice solid tips.
yes...DOHC VTEC models hvae a larger exhaust tip
for example:
the integra GS(no VTEC) is using a 44mm tip (not sure but it's 40sth)
the integra GS-R VTEC is using a 52mm tip
so u would notice the VTEC integras' tips are larger

The 3A Racing tips are very nice and of great quality. I'm waiting for the insides to get black so it's not as easy to see the skinny stock pipes. I'm too lazy to take it back off and spray the inside black. Has anyone cut the pipes shorter?
I was thinking about purchasing these Pilot exhaust tips. About the same as the 3A tips but 1 inch shorter (8 inches long versus 9 inches). IMHO, I think the 3A tips would stick out too far.

bb_00: The 3A look sweet with the body kit. From the pics I've seen, without the body kit they stick just a little too far.
dj5: If you get the Pilot exhaust tips for JC Whitney's, get us some pics and give us your opinion on their quality. From the posts I've read, the 3A's appear to be very high quality.

PAW,
I got the Pilot exhaust tips from JC Whitney and installed them tonight. I looked at the 3A tips at Pep Boys and even took one outside to see how they would look. In my opinion they were about an inch too long if you do not have the body kit.
The Pilot tips were as good or better quality than the 3A tips. The eight-inch tips are the perfect length if you don't have a body kit.
If you are thinking about tips, these are the ones to get.

Thanks for the reply. I really appreicate it. This sounds like what I've been looking for. Now that you got them, I've a few more questions!!
1) Got any pics?!?!?!
2) Are the tips double wall?
3) Can you see the original tail pipe inside the tips?
4) From the JC Whitney pics, there appeared to be 2 - 3 set screws that squeeze against the original tail pipe. Did you put loctite on the threads or did they appear secure enough
Thanks

2. Yes they are double wall.
3. You can see the orginal pipes inside, but the inside of the Pilot tips are black so it's not that noticeable.
4. There are three sets of screws that attach to the orginal pipe.
Did not use any loctite on the threads as it seems secure enough.
The tips extent just to bottom lip of the rear bumper. The nine inch 3A tips would really extent to far out for my taste.
I know im bringing a thread back from the dead, but I just picked up a set of AP1 tips for my TL
pics will be posted tomorrow, its snowing right now so im in no mood to go lay under my car and install them
