Red face RSX-S...I lost!

Oh well, you can't win them all.

I was minding my business going on Rt. 1 North when I noticed a white RSX-S swerving in and out of traffic ahead of me. So he got stuck at the red light on the left lane with me in the right lane. There were 2 people in my car and in his. By the way his car was rocking back and forth, I knew he had a stick. So I knew that I was gonna lose but I wasn't going down without a fight.

The light turned green and I got a great launch (yea we all know how difficult it is to launch an automatic :p ). Well I heard him spin his tires but I was gone. Then I could've sworn I heard him chirp second gear. Anyways, I was hauling ass and I was surprised that I took him off the hole and kept it up to about 120+ mph (mostly straightaway and no traffic). He was about a car length behind. Then he slowly caught up to me and started passing me when I hit fourth. Then I slowed down and he put his hazards on. I flashed him to acknowledged it was a great race. We then stopped at the light and I told him to roll his window down. I gave him a thumbs up and so did he. At least I wasn't a sore loser.

Wonder if he had anything under the hood? Are the 6-speed rsx-s that quick? Can I take an auto rsx? Does an rsx-s come in an auto? I have aem cai and ct headers.

BTW, let's keep the troll out of this one. I doubt there will be any trolls anyway since we're both Acuras but let's try and keep my thread open this time.

The stock RSX-S runs numbers pretty much about the same as the CL/TL Type S's, about 14.8 in the 1/4 mile. Usually up high 100+ mph the RSX loses steam though because its only a 4 cylinder engine. I'm surprised he caught up to you at 120+ ... he could have been modded though. I've seen completely NA modded RSX-S's put down really low 1/4 mile times, in the low 13s, high 12s. Thats pretty sweet for NA. Turbo'ed RSX's are real quick, and we probably don't have much of a chance against them.

the RSX-S will take the TL-P

the TL can take the 160hp RSX both man or auto

but TL-S will take them all!!!

My friend has a RSX-S, fast as hell. Im sure it would whoop up on my ride...

I think the numbers are similar to a Type-S though, so it just depends on the driver. The stick on the RSX gives them some edge though.

THe RSX xomes ain a manual, but at RSX-S comes in a 6 speed. The type S's are quick...posting 6.7 seconds to 60. it should be able to take a TL-P pretty easily, but a TL-S should take an RSX-S without much touble.

Definitely a modded RSX-S if he passed you at 120 and you have cai and headers!

I think so too.

I wonder if I would've been able to catch him and pass him when my VTEC hits in 4th?

RSX-S are quick but not as quick as a CLS/TLS. Modded with the usual h/i/e and they are faster than the stock TLS/CLS. Throw in the hondata chip in the mix and the car is in the 13s.

C&D (August 2001) ran a 6.1 second 0-60, and a 14.8 1/4 mile for the RSX Type S, R&T (July 2001) ran a 6.2 second 0-60, and a 14.8 1/4 mile for the TL Type S.

Like I said before, above 100mph the TL-S has the edge because of the v6 engine, but up to 100mph the RSX-S can hold its own against our cars.

Definitely watch out for the RSX-S. Modded ones (especially turbo'ed RSX-S's) can be a lot faster than our cars.

I don't think the tl-s are that much faster than a tl-p. My friend has a tl-s and we both raced using SS and he only had me a 1/2 car length up to about 100 mph and then slowed down.

My Bud has an RSX-S, and that car is quick, but he hasnt been able to beat me yet, especially off the line. He hangs very well on the highway too, but still hasnt been able to beat me yet.

Hes got an Icebox on his ride right now, and that combined with his stock exhaust note sounds soo sweet.

P.S. he chirped 2nd easy even when bone stock.

120 mph on Rt 1? sheesh...

Anyway, in a straight line race the TL should beat the RSX. On a road course though the RSX should have an edge. TLs are too soft on the turns.

Can't argue with magazine numbers! What were the traps on both cars in the quarter?

Yes that time was the best by far for the RSX-Type S of any mag test an done of the best for the TLS, I looked in a afew old copies of C/D but they didnot list the trap speeds.
