This time around Acura is telling me that they are still diagnosing the problem even after 2 full days. Still they say its gonna take a day or 2 to figure out whats wrong.
This is the same exact problem I had last time and they told me in a matter of hours that my tranny needed replacement. I was hoping thats what the problem is since it would be under warranty.
The guy told me that they are not getting transmission codes like they got last time, so it doesnt look like a tranny problem according to him

Sounds like a ECU or a connector problem. Im leaning towards a connector problem since it went away after the trans replacement. They should have put in a new ECU then, and also it could have worked because of what ever was causing it may have made a better connection for a while after they unplugged and re plugged every thing in.

in person chat with the service manager and the head tech- who should be the person working on your car-
make sure the tech understands when and what changes have occured

Something is missing...my
Fault isolation, they will get to that "does the power come on when turning key? yes or no. if no then . . .. " sooner or later that points to the problem.

they did figure it out, it was a cable that had come out of a harness leading to a VTEC solenoid according to them. They were $275 to put the cable back in that harness. I decided to just pay the $100 for diagnosis and repair it myself. I put the cable back in the harness as securely as I could and no more problem with the revs getting stuck.
Thanks to everyone who helped. Now, if only I could figure out that rattle (other thread).

I would go back and speak with the SERVICE MANAGER about the repair price- and what you did to fix it at home
Maybe they will give you a job there!!
In reality they were looking to recoup some of the time they spent looking for the problem 1 step at a time- all they had from you for authorization was 100 bucks- so legally thats all they can charge you-
Glad you got it fixed
any idea how it got loose- pics?
