Rotors

Wuz up guys... well I rarely post on the site because most of my questions get answered by some of the post that everyone else writes... here's one that I really need help with and I would appreciate your feed back on it.. I'm really sick and tired of my brakes .. the shaking of the steering wheel, the screeching sound.. I'm tired of it all.. unfortunately I don't have the money to do any "BIG" upgrades on them.. well, I have a friend that works for HONDA and he could get me the whole brake kit real cheap.. what I was wondering is if it would actually work? taking the brake kits of a Honda Accord V6 and putting them in my 99 TL??

I think it would fit, but, why??? They're smaller and I believe they have the same rotor warping problem... just invest in a new set of rotors. Brembo makes an excellent replacement rotor for the TL and they're only like 50 bucks each... or save a little more and get nice slotted or dimpled rotors

If you want to go with an upgrade...try KVR crossdrilled rotors with KVR sport pads. That's what I have right now on all four corners and let me tell you...it's amazing the difference:wow:

I'll try and post some pics for you tonight.

I paid $650 Canadian...which is about $410 U.S. for 4 disks and KVR sport pads all around and installation included. I guess it's cheaper for the KVR stuff up here in the great white north because KVR is based up here.

Can anyone post the pics for me?

Why does brembo only have front rotors for the TL (from tirerack) ? can you put front rotors on the back? KVR rotors are just brembos that have been machined....

No. Front and rear are both different rotors. Different diameter, thickness. A majority of the braking is done with the front so that's definitely the one's you should focus in on first. Most of your problems will go away when you get a good set of front rotors and pads. If you still want more, then do the rear as a second project.

Just my opinion.

i just got the regular Brembos and Hawk pro street pads from Tirerack but i havent put them on yet. Total was $208.

I was sick of the warped factory rotors and had them replaced once by the dealer but i just cant be bothered fighting with them anymore about the fact it happened again so i just got different stuff and to hell with Acura. [Its my first and last Acura product due to the tranny problem so there is no brand loyalty thing going on for me here.]

I too was originally thinking of going with cross drilled and would have spend the extra money on it if it really solved anything. I read alot of posts on these boards about x-drilled, and in the end it seemed like it didnt make much of a difference if at all for normal highway driving. I particularly took to heart one post by someone who has tried all different combinations of rotors and pads and said the x-drilled didnt make a lick of difference in the warping dept. He also pointed out that with x-drilled, you can never get them turned so they are a one use item, and for what they cost, that can be $$$ if you drive as much as i do.

Naturally they look cool, but that wasnt going to persuade me to spend the extra money just for that.

my guess is that the factory pads are just too rough on the rotors even though Acura uses a redesigned compound as of the 2002 model. I think for what the OEM pads would cost you, you should give something else a try, thats why i went with the Hawk pads. AEM is also widely used on by people on this board. and supposedly AEM makes the OEM pads but i havent heard anything about whether its the same compound in both the OEM and AEM brand name pads.

Some people are also using axxis metal master, but i was affraid those might squeal...
