They probably come with a thin film of oil to reduce rusting. Simple Green cut with water would do the trick.

The instructions that came with my rotors just said to use regular soap and water, but NOT brake fluid (and yes, they even put it in caps). ....Just wash and know it is normal if the rotors appear to look slightly rusted. It just means you've washed off the oil which coated it from the factory.

LOL! Edit: My bad...but that is actually what i meant!

Quoted from my rotor installation instructions (don't kill the messenger):

"Prior to installation, wash perfromance rotors with regular soap and water. Rotora coasts all performance rotors with an oil based rust inhibitor that must be cleaned before use. DO NOT USE BRAKE CLEANERS. The surface of the rotor will immediately show a light rust colour (which is common) after being cleaned properly."

my brembos and all other rotors never said not to. and after all the rotors ive put on (and there have been ALOT) ive never had a problem.

asloudasitgets, yes any thing with a degreaser works the best.. dawn, wax and grease remover, thinner, all your doing is removing teh packing oil. if done installs and never cleaned them too and never had a problem. just take it easy on the new brakes for acouple hundred miles and let them heat cycle before you do any hard driving or bedding of the pads. i have had teh most sucess doing it that route (and i have the miles to prove it) i had 70k on the factory rotors with very little warping and i have over 40k on the irotors and they are smooth as glass.
